Yes John the steel ones do weld themselves to the head
I have a bb head that a steel one welded itsself to the head and you cant get it out I need to drill it . PJ |

John one more question. Is it necessary to put a plastic washer on the threaded part before I put the wire on the terminal??

I wouldn't think they should need a plastic washer. Mine just have a brass flat washer and a copper lock washer, but just about anything that won't work loose should be o.k.
