Re: What oil is best for engine break in????
I will use the Gibbs or Brad Penn oils. I also have been heavily using the VR1 Valvoline Race oil. It has all the additives needed and has never let me down. I also use a bottle of the Comp Cams break in lube. If it is an agressive profile with a lot of spring I will recommend using a bottle with every oil change.

Re: What oil is best for engine break in????
Something else to consider when breaking in cams is to use either just the outter springs [or set of break in springs] and/or a set of break in rockers...

Re: What oil is best for engine break in????
I have a question, i have 2 cases of STP racing oil in the paper cans, probably from the late 70's would this oil still be good if it is in a sealed can, for say like a 70 spec LS-6 with factory Mech cam? for break in purposes, i believe it is 50 Wt.

Those composite cans, although known to weap over time, still are dependable if stored within reasonable conditions. The oil should be OK.
