And I might add that while it's only the last 8 digite of the VIN, the first two letters are transposed. IE: if the last 8 of actual vin was "0B262759" then what you will find is "B0262759". This will often lead to much confusion. On one of my own cars it goes one step further. The VIN is 0A251 950 , but the body stampings are A0251 590

Yes, there should be a CVIN stamped there on 69 and newer Mopars.

Prior to the new theft prevention laws that started in 69 (which mandated the locking ignition switches on the column and CVIN stampings on the car bodies), you may find a sequence number there instead, which would match a sequence number on the broadcast sheet if you have one.

Sometimes they are so faintly stamped that without stripping the paint you wont see it.

I am almost positive that the stamping on pre 1969 mopars (b-bodies anyway) consisted of the following:
first digit- model year (6=1966, 7=1967)
second digit- assembly plant
third-fifth digits- scheduled production date
followed by the shipping order # (usually 5 digits)

You're probably right. I didnt quite recall the proper term. I used "sequence number" but that is technically the last 6 of the VIN. My mistake. Thank's for the correction.

How funny, when you mentioned the "BO" prefix I finally snapped, I've seen that several places on my Challenger.
