Re: 1967 Z28 At The Dutch
The car looks as good as it runs! A few more small adjustments and I believe the car will be in the 10.50's range even in slightly bad air. One of the nicest and well engineered cars in the pits! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: 1967 Z28 At The Dutch
Jim,
People were doing that years ago. Tony Pizzi comes to mind. He had the baddest 68 Z28 in the country.....and the rear bumper was filled with lead! Not as much today because you'll get wacked big time by NHRA and have your name and photo on the cover of National Dragster for flagrent violations. NHRA does not check rear wheels on the scales, only the full weight of the car after qualifying runs. We were checking my new car to see where it is. Will be nearly impossible to make it 50-50 at D weight, maybe E weight as I would have to weigh 3260 lbs adding over 150 lbs to the weight of the car. I didn't take the NOS metal on the new car and have it acid dipped. Just couldn't do it to that NOS GM sheet metal. All the mounts are in the stock location too. In 2004, I got to go to the tear down barn at Indy for winning class at the 50th NHRA US Nationals. Believe me, that experience will get your attention. They check everything and even have sectioned factory cylinder heads on hand to check for acid ported heads. Check out our link: http://www.z28camaro.com/race.html Jerry |

Jerry,
Thanks for taking the time to post. Jason Booth |
Re: 1967 Z28 At The Dutch
Looking at some of the early photos of the car on your web site, I remember seeing the car on a trailer at Hat Machine.

Red are the tolerances allowed by NHRA. That allows them to see the engine specs and write down everything in teardown to speed up the process. CC min is 61.2 and I was over at 61.7. Camshaft lift .485, actual lift on my cam was less.......482 and .477", etc.

Cool thread. Its awesome to see a 302 running that kind of E.T. Do you have any videos of the car going down the track? An incar video would be awesome.

Re: 1967 Z28 At The Dutch
Heads have to be stock production heads. 291s, 462s, 186s, etc. No angle plug heads allowed.

Re: 1967 Z28 At The Dutch
Have some video of the new car at the Dutch. Mike Williams, one of my pit crew shot some. Just have to figure out how to down load it and make it available for all to see.
