Re: Great Pics of Tarrytown
Outstanding set of photos. Thanks for the link. I'd always hoped to find some 59 Assembly Plant pictures.
Here are a few pix of a 4 door 59 I picked up about 10 years ago. Only had 23,000 miles on it when I bought it and still had some original paint on the exhaust manifolds. That paint is all but gone now. It is a great car to drive in, still has original springs and shocks. AWESOME! Definitely my favorite GM factory of all time. Plus, Street Racer's Special is a Tarrytown carhttps://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

Re: Great Pics of Tarrytown
Tarrytown was Chevrolet's first plant, opening in 1911. Before that it was a Maxwell plant. I heard a story that many years later when they broke ground for an expansion they uncovered a concrete room full of Maxwell steering wheels. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif

Re: Great Pics of Tarrytown
Phil, did your car come out of Texas? I saw one here in Columbus that looked a lot like that one.
Very coo ride. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
Re: Great Pics of Tarrytown
Andy,
The car came out of New York. A buddy of mine spotted it on a walk. Three months of letters in the gal's mailbox and she finally sold it to me. Phil Woj. |

I worked there in '79-'80 when they were building ...
http://www.geocities.com/citation_x11/car1.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif ... working there was an interesing experience since my boss let me work almost every job on the engine line; I even worked in the spray booth doing undercoating. I took the place of anyone that was sick or on vacation. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif That was the morning shift, then I was moved to nights & my new boss didn't like me. I only lasted a few months with him before I threw a motor mount through his office window & quit. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif I may have had anger issues back then ... or maybe he deserved it. (a little of both I am sure). But there was definetly something bad about FWD & I new it then. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif |
