Chuck, Brian and Andy:

Thanks for your responses. I now know the spoiler is a later model type but I didn't think they were flat at the edge like this one. Regarding the emblem, it is stuck on and not screwed on. So, me and the Camaro are goin' racin'!

I'm forever restoring my cars with correct parts, A.I.R., Gardner exhausts, etc. Over the years, I have collected a ton of miscellaneous stuff around like MSD devices, 12-bolts, transmissions, headers, exhausts, etc. that I am really excited to build something that runs and not worry about a single part being correct. It also gives me a reason to search racingjunk.com and use my trailer for something other than toting trailer queens.

Nasblu: It is a pretty nice looking Camaro, that and the floor pans/sheetmetal/frame rails - caused me to buy it. While I have a ton of parts, paintwork is just getting too costly and I can't do it myself. So no harm - no foul.

Thanks again for all of your input and I think the Berger badge will look tough out at the drags, Ed https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

Ed it sounds like you have a great car and I wish you luck in the transformation into a race car. Trailer queens are nice to look at but race cars are fun to drive. Mark https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Well said, Mark. Put an aluminium interior in it, don't scrimp on the roll cage, and drive it like you stole it! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif

That's the plan while I'm snowed in this Winter.

Re: Before I cut this Camaro

It sure is a nice looking car. In my youth I back-halved a 1970 GTO and while it was a nice racecar, I learned that it's alot less expensive to buy one done than to build one. I still wish I had that car street legal and stock (Racing was a phase I went through).

Best of luck on your project, but it seems a shame to hack up another musclecar, when the classifieds on RJunk and National Dragster are already teeming with quality done cars for sale. I'd bet you could find a top notch turnkey car and spray it however you wanted for less than building a racecar from scratch...

Hi Ed, any chance this camaro has a 396 and 4 speed combo? My original 396 and muncie 4 speed from my 69 chevelle ended up in a car like this and ended up in Georgia. Thanks, Phil.

Phil:

No, it's a small block turbo 350 Camaro. Sorry, Ed
