Re: Day 2 parts discussion
another piece of junk you'd never see on a real muscle car....maybe on a wanna be Ricky racer from the mid 60's conversion from auto to stick
still nice to see NOS surviving items |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
The first thing I thought Tom was -"Neat old item I'd enjoy on display more than actually in use."
I've collected several old speed catalogs prior to 1965, this would be an example of some of the better parts available. I'm too young to remember anything Spark-o-matic other than some K-mart car speakers and that sort of thing and spoiled by all the awesome parts from the later 60's and 70's. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Like the infamous "Mystery Shifters" -- it was a mystery what gear you were getting ... LOL

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
They work best in unopened boxes

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Cool Kurt. Looks like you snagged a YC-310-HP.
|
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
It has a number 24100V cast on the shaft and it's a dual point.
|
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Yep - that would be a correct number for a 310. These have an SB/BB application and were used on numerous BM conversions.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Summit has Coker Pro Trac N50's for sale, and I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experience with them? I was considering getting a set for a stock rear end '68 Camaro that's raised in the rear some but wasn't sure what size/offset rim I'd need to get to ensure they don't rub.
Any thoughts/info you all can provide is appreciated, thanks. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/cok-72146 |

Maybe not any KID, but there are plenty of old Stock, Super/Stock guys that will tell you the same thing!!!! A certain old SS guy who was also nation F/C champ told me this with my '69 Nova. BUT they just need to be installed correctly. But with today's technology, we have got away from that and are using leaf spring "sliders" and roller bearing to achieve the very same thing the shackles did.. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
A Cool. "HOT". trick on. first gen Camaros to raise the rear a bit is:
Use Nova/Buick/olds Front Spring Boxes..... they look identical to Camaro, except the Spring Bolt is Lower on the boxes/ perches. by about 5/8-3/4 inch. additionally,,.. using modified stock shackles (lengthened) or shortening aftermarket ones, you can 'disguise' the C/L height.. no need for re arching springs or using those gawd awful replacements...... |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Are these the vintage style and worth picking up to get fixed, or no??
Thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-2-Classic-C...9a4&vxp=mtr |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
No, they are modern flat spoke.
Not to sound like a jerk, but if you can't see the difference then why do you want them? Most will be content with a new, shiny set of Cragars anyways. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Hey, thanks for the kind words, lol.
I just bought a 68 Camaro that *needs* period correct ones. |

Thanks http://www.ebay.com/itm/Pair-2-Classic-C...9a4&vxp=mtr </div></div> Mark, these are the modern flat spoke you an get for $180 each new and it would cost $350-400 each to replate/repair. Those wheels are worth 2.00 each ..scrap. Best thing about that ebay ad is it show how tough the aluminum Cragar center section is...I'm surprised it did not break. I sent you a facebook message. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Went to buy a car yesterday. Instead i bought the rims off it. They look better in person.
Ford /small mopar bolt pattern . http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/i...pscvco5hkr.jpg |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Small Mopar bolt pattern? I thought 5 on 4.5 was large mopar pattern. Very cool rims!

I know my '69 W-31 that was raced as a brand new car has the style on the right. This was in reference to the line-locks on page 37

That is a cool photo. Could almost be on the cover of a 70's speed shop catalog. Very well done.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
The color tint of the photo appears as the new car brochures of the day.
