Wooden wheels were attached to a P-51A Mustang so that it could be moved around the ramp at the Inglewood, California plant of North American Aviation. When it is ready for flight tests, regular landing wheels with rubber tires will be substituted. The article lists this as the P51A but I am thinking this is the earlier A36 Apache. Anyone else know for sure?

Rick - I'm thinking this may have been a Mustang I or Mustang II based on the British Roundels. From what I've read, there was only one A-36 built for the British and I do not see provisions for the dive brakes on the aircraft in the photo to indicate this was "the one". Would like to learn more about these photos.
