Bryant Goldstone's 73 Javelin was in 2nd place in the Unlimited class and overall when he arrived at Martin on Day 5 with a 6.95 average with his best pass being a 6.78 @ 208 on Day 3 at Indy. Unfortunately on his 1st pass at Martin he got loose at half track, spun and hit the wall in the opposite lane with his frontend. He then slid on his roof through the traps. The car was pretty much destroyed, but fortunately he was not injured. This car is powered by a 572ci big block with twin turbos on methanol. He's been racing this car since at least the mid 90's and had just done a bunch of chassis work to it. At this point I'm not sure if the car is rebuildable or not.

Joe Barry's 56 210 was by far the fastest car in Ultimate Iron which is a class for tube frame cars with stock bodies. His best pass was a 7.00 @ 209 at Martin on Day 1. Unfortunately he broke his rear end at Indy and was unable to make a pass and had to take a 20.00 et for the day. He did get it back together and finished up the week with a 10.17 average which put him in 4th place in his class. This car weighs 3,800 lbs. and is powered by a 598ci big block with twin turbos. This was one of my favorite cars at Drag Week this year.

Craig Groebner's 71 Nova was probably the fastest car in the Pro Street PA class but he blew it up on the first pass at Martin on day 1. He had run in the 7.30's during the Test and Tune on Sunday. This car is powered by a big block with twin turbos.

He averaged a 7.25 with a best of 6.93 @ 203 on day 5 at Martin. This car is powered by a 388ci LSX with a single turbo. This car was one of the hits of Drag Week and was a crowd pleaser.

Kevin Partin's 67 Nova was in the Modified PA class as well and ran a best of 8.69 on day 2 at Norwalk. Unfortunately he had transmission problems and had to drop out after arriving at Byron. This car was one of the many LSX powered cars and was equipped with twin turbos.

He has also done half mile timing runs with this car where it has gone well over 200 mph.

Tyree Smith's 67 Firebird was the fastest car in the Modified Naturally Aspirated class with a day 1 pass of 8.62. However, he was unable to make it to Norwalk. This car is powered by a 565ci Pontiac engine. I took this picture from about 15 rows up in the grand stands.

Paul Cornman's 71 Demon was in the Super Street Small Block Naturally Aspirated class which allows some suspension modifications. He ran a 8.91 on day 1 which was faster than the winning average. However, he too was unable to make it to Norwalk for day 2. This car was powered by a 429ci small block Chrysler in past years so I assume it still had the same engine.

Brian Acton's 70 Nova finished 8th in the Street Race Small Block Power Adder class with a 8.87 average. He ran a best of 8.77 on day 4 at Byron. This car was powered by an LSX with a single turbo. The cars in this class couldn't run quicker than 8.50 due to cage limitations so the fastest cars in the class were being hot lapped trying to get as close to 8.5000 as they could.

I finished second in B Gas with my 55. Had the clutch a little tight at Indy but made for some great shots. Car made all its passes with a best of 10.82 @ 125 at Byron and travelled right at 1300 miles without breaking a sweat. I tell people Dragweek is the funnest most grueling thing I have ever done. Can't wait until next year!
