Re: Backyard finds today
Ran onto a '66 Bonneville conv., 421, 4spd, air, tilt, etc but don't know jack about Pontiacs. Haven't seen car yet but understand it's pretty rough. Anybody know any good Pontiac sites that might tell me something about it? Rare enough to persue?

Re: Backyard finds today
We have found some cars like this in our small town in Louisiana.
One Sunday morning my dad and I picked up the local newspaper to have or usually browse through the classified section. To our shock we found a 2nd owner '69 Vette 435hp conv. w/29k actual miles. The guy had owned the car since '72 and was moving overseas forcing him to sell. The car ended up being about a mile away from home, and when we arrived, there were two other people looking at the car and talking to the owner. Luckily they left, and were we able to pursue the owner. It was hard to attempt to talk to him cause the phone would be ringing and ringing, or neighbors would show up asking about the car. My dad finally had to act at that exact moment and we struck a deal. To our luck after we purchase the car the guy hands over "some of the stuff he'd kept over the years". Which is the original bill of sale, POP, and every piece of any work down on the car since it was bought new. Another car thats local to me is a '67 Firebird 400 Conv. w/ factory air, fold down seat, etc., that the owner had for about 15 years. I was lucky enough to get that car, but as you can imagine it's not in the condition of my father's Vette, because I'm only 21 and that's all I could afford. That same owner has '67 Vette Coupe 350hp 4 spd, bolt ons, side pipes, that is rotting away to nothing. He won't sell that car, cause "he's goin restore it someday". And right down the street from him is a guy that has a '65 Vette 350hp 4/sped factory air Conv. He won't sell it cause it's his last piece of youth. Sorry for the long ramble I just enjoy stories like these https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif |

Re: Backyard finds today
He's just a local guy that is burned out on muscle cars, there are probably all still sitting in the same spot. I even think he has one of those all aluminum BB's for the pace car, and you wouldn't believe the rest of the cars not in the photo. I think he has around 400 throughout the trees.

Re: Backyard finds today
Wow, you just found a totally cool Poncho! Sticks are rare in Bonnies . . . I know the number is in the Standard Book of Cars printed by Old Cars, but I don't have it with me. I bet only 200 cars were sticks. This is a ragtop with a 421. Damn. Is it tripower? This car is about as good as it gets apart from a Super Duty.

I imagine he has been contacted about selling some of his iron? Probably repeatedly. lol |
