Ha! Right, I see where this is going. Maybe I’ll run myself through an auction. “You’re bidding on one (1) 1973 vintage male, average miles, runs like a champ and doesn’t know when to stop!”
Yes, Jake. C2 modified a little to fit as are the strikers. Works great! Appreciate the comments. This is so much fun getting stuff to actually operate! The vision is coming true! Cheers Dave |

I do know the car, Lee. But not the owner. The other Japan Red car I know of (which is actually Rosso Corsa Ferrari Red) is Tom Pesikey's which I posted that I visited and sat in last month. :headbang:
Big day today! The training wheels are off and the next wheels to go on will be the real ones! Woohoo! With the spare steel from the dolly, I used that to modify my rotisserie and bolt up my hoist so I have gantry for easy motor installation. Attachment 241043 Attachment 241044 Attachment 241045 Attachment 241046 Attachment 241047 It's all reversible which means I need to buy another something to throw on the twirler. But I did procure another something that I may be using this on another engine extractification.:naughty: More to come! Parts coming in the next few days; rear coils overs, generator/alternator, wiring looms, radio, etc., etc……so more fantabulous fabrication follies forthcoming!:hmmm::biggthumpup: Cheers Dave |
One of the best build threads in the world as far as I am concerned. Not many people can do this in their own garage starting from a blank piece of paper. If there has been any follies, I've not seem them. :worship:

Man, thanks Joe! What a nice compliment. Glad you’re enjoying the build! I’m looking forward to this month and making progress on getting it on four wheels. This site and everyone’s support has been a big factor in my success!!!:3gears::cool2::3gears:
Packages-a-plenty coming in hot!! Cheers Dave |

A radio, while not necessary, was on the list of things to do. And since I was knee deep into wiring, might as well work on that today!
I combined parts from a correct Becker-Mexico one with a modern Retro-Sound which gives the best of both worlds. Attachment 241180 Attachment 241181 Here you can see the aftermarket bezel, the factory correct original bezel along with the mounting plate. I'm going to use the original bezel and somehow modify it to include the lower tuner switches belie the dials too. Attachment 241182 I trimmed the mounting tabs and surprisingly, the original steel mounting plate fits the Retro ratio perfectly! But seeing as how the original radio I had was for a Mercedes 190SL and this is meant as a replacement, I guess it makes sense it would fit. Attachment 241183 Attachment 241184 Attachment 241185 I gutted the original seek bar to slip over the tuner buttons. I also mounted the turner switches below the knobs as well Attachment 241186 Attachment 241187 Add the Ivory knobs and we are petty much 100% accurate yet its 6lbs lighter. Blue-toof, Sirumous Radio, and Aux inputs to boot! Yes that's a lot of work for a radio, but that's half the fun! More to come... Cheers Dave |

Attachment 241189 Attachment 241190 Attachment 241191 Wiring harness in! If you recall, I welded retainer tabs all along the inner frame rail, under the dash, engine bay, and trunk so the harness is secure. I wrapped it all in that braided stuff and it really looks professional instead of it looking like some amature wanna-be was learning how to wire! All switches on the dash are in place and next up will be terminating the connections where they need to do. But before that, several other things to do: suspension, remote brake booster, fuel/brake lines, pedals and steering column. :3gears: Just a few more bolts!:headbang: Cheers Dave |

Today was a montabulous day! We're back on all four feetsies.... well, for a little while, anyway. Rear suspension in, tires on, and man, this thing is starting to look like what it was supposed to look like! :3gears:
Attachment 241192 Attachment 241193 Attachment 241194 Attachment 241195 Attachment 241196 Attachment 241197 And after the rear goes in, naturally the front is next! :cool2::3gears: Attachment 241198 Attachment 241199 Attachment 241200 So cool to bounce the car up and down on a suspension I made! Next up, it goes back onto the jack stands since I need to route the lines and do some stuff under the car which is easier with it up in the air. Details coming up will be the remote brake booster installation, exhaust heat shields on the floor, emergency brake cables, and a plethora of other crap I still need to do! :hmmm::biggthumpup: Cheers Dave |

Thanks guys!! I spent yesterday fabricating the exhaust shielding. The factory shielding which is originally an asbestos material and keeps the exhaust heat from radiating until the cabin and follows the path of the exhaust along the floors. There's an air gap between the floor and the panel. Not wanting to mess with that junk, I took a page from the Book of Old Hotrodding and used cement board coated in BBQ high temp paint. Attachment 241395 Attachment 241396 Attachment 241397 Attachment 241398 Attachment 241399 Attachment 241400 Attachment 241401 Attachment 241402 After fitment, there's a 1/4" gap between the floor pan and heat shielding and they'll be about an inch between pipe and shielding. Should be nice and cool with no radiant heat. Another detail to mimic what the factory did which nobody will see, care about, or comment on! I think I've entered into the "obsessive compulsive crazy" aspect of this build, so why not more details to make this thing over the top accurate?:dunno::biggthumpup::hmmm: Dash controls are all complete too! Attachment 241403 More to come. Have to go to work! Cheers Dave |

Here you can see the factory shielding which is incorrect Red in color from my understanding. They were either natural or black. This is an over-restored, stunning, beautiful 507 done by RPM styling which I could only hope to emulate!

Can’t remember if I shared this photo previously or not. I apologize if this is a repeat. I saw this one in June of 2005 at Lake Tahoe. It was participating in a ralley of some sorts. Can’t quite remember the details.
Thanks, Marty |
The details were as follows:
A blinding flash of light stunned the crowd as the time vortex opened and Dave drove his "507-1/2" through the wormhole from 2023 and parked it in the shade under the trees. |
Way cool, Marty.
Right, Steve! 507-1/2….that’s funny. I prefer 507R as in, Replica/Recreation/Regurgitation!:dunno::scholar: Cheers Dave |
Well, since it is from the Dave's Bizarro World, it should officially be labeled as the Bizarro Murder Werks "Five-Oh-Seven".

I believe that's Walter Scott’s car which is chassis #70240. Did you see it in person?:eek2: I'm pretty sure he went to the show.
Cheers Dave PS: an extremely busy two weeks. Updates soon! :scholar: |

Unfortunately I did not. I was 4 days too late. Didn’t know about the show. But, I made reservations for next year so the wife and I can get away and I can look at cars. Lol. If I was there I would have taken way more photos for you. |

Yep, that red one is Walter Scott’s and not Tom’s. Walter’s is the last 507 made.

Ha! That’s a good point, Joe, and funny you say that. :cool2: I’m stamping the data plate and chassis plate on the cowl with the chassis number one after Walter’s just for fun.:cool2:
Things finally getting back to normal around here, so updates next week! Cheers Dave |

Attachment 242287 Attachment 242288 Attachment 242289 Attachment 242290 Attachment 242291 Attachment 242292 It's in! No collateral damage! Before I installed it I fabbed up the center mounted generator/alternator brakets, but left that off during the install. You'll also see the clutch and brake master cylinders along with the remote power brake booster tucked up in the driver's side inner fender. Brake lines, fuel lines, radiator, exhaust all this week. Getting closer! Cheers Dave |
