A great shoot out, with both cars and drivers up to the challenge. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif to Frank and Marlin.

What a weekend....What a race!!! What I would really like to mention about the race and the show in general was how close of a family this group is. I had never met Brian Henderson (bkhpah) until Thursday when he greeted our truck with the biggest smile at the entrance of the Thursday night gathering. After I made a few practice runs on Friday I had my hood open and Shonye had noticed that my water pump was going bad. I still made another practice run and after that one it was realized that I had rolled my belt and that the pump had gotten worse. At that point it was completely evident that I should not race anymore or risk my fan going through the radiator, hood, or causing some really extensive damage. Brian had walked up and tool a look and said that I definitely should NOT race anymore. All of the sudden he said if I got a water pump he could change it out quick. I was shocked that such an offer was made. All of the sudden I had a Belair Bob throw me the keys to his rental and Joey & Erik Barr volunteering to go with so I would not forget any of the things needed to have the pump changed. After getting the parts which BTW even Charley had sent out for a fuel pump that he had delivered: Brian Henderson, Joe Sweezy, and Joey Barr tore that car apart and changed that pump so quickly that my head spun. They worked lightning quick in the Sahara Desert equivalent heat sweating bullets, on there backs, getting dirty, etc. I did go on to win the shootout because of those guys efforts and for that I will be in debt to you fellas! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

I know that at one point there was about 20 people around the car and there was tons of people offering anti freeze, tools, etc., and if I forgot to mention all of you I appreciate it! Thanks to the Clary's for putting the biggest, best, and friendliest Supercar show in the world! What cars! What a group of people! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Marlin was awesome and I was honored to race against him. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

What a great weekend. The Super Car Workshop crew was happy to lend a hand. I was eager to see the shootout happen and when we found out that you were having trouble we thought we could take a look. Your father was convinced the day was over, and I could see the dissapointment in your faces. I told Joe "let's fix it" and the race was on! We were glad to help out. It was a bit hot under the hood, but it was worth it. Just one of many great moments of the weekend. See Belair, I do smile once in a while...BKH https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

What no one realized was just how close Frank was to catastrophe...not only was the bearing shot in his water pump, but it had been put under so much stress from the high rpm runs he had made on the worn pump that it actually had cracked the casting of the pump itself... Another run with the old pump would have almost certainly ended in disaster. i was VERY glad we opted to change the pump rather than "put it on the trailer", as it seemed to run better than ever with the new one, and made Frank alot less irritable for the rest of the weekend! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif I guess we'll all have to go paint Marlin's house next weekend or something to make it even... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif Seriously though, it was great to see Frank able to not only run again, but actually WIN the 3 race shootout. There could not have been 2 better matched cars, with both Marlin and Frank running VERY similar times consistently all day. This coulda been anyone's race to win, and I'm sure Marlin will be back next year with a vengance! Great sportsmanship on both driver's parts, and a couple of great races to watch. How many more days til SCR8? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
