Hi there NorCam!! I'll see if I can dig up some info on Louis from some ole drag drace buddies in the West End of Montreal. I thought his car was sold to a Paul Gougeon who ran a radiator shop in Montreal. John Armstrong I remember from Napes and Sanair as a wicked l'il Opel exited his closed trailer with a winch setup. The Opel was a very high pitched engine and ran unbelievable. Set a few records. Loved the L'il car som much I went out and bought Ron Brunet's Fibreglass Opel and still have the beast. Ron Brunet is the owner of Napierville. Lottsa good ex drag racers still around.
I will see what I can dig up on Louis' car(s)..
Ted

I think that Opel GT belongs to John's brother Alan. John runs a 69 corvette in SS/AA and had a killer 1969 camaro in Super B for many years.

Hello Norcam!
I love this thread- been away for a few weeks and really like the progress!
What stoke did you decide on for the hotter street motor? Cubic inches?
Great info on the M/T Super Scavengers- I had a few sets repro'd by GS Buick Club in 80's- early 90's. They sound like Nothing Else- uncorked with a big cam!!
They were chromed back then, wish I hung on to a set. The orange coating looks really tough. I like white headers too for a vintage look.
Wasn't there a brand of headers that were gold back in 70's??
Great thread and thanks for all the effort sharing this build- great amounts of knowledge here- no matter what direction a guy is thinking on his own build. Very Cool.
Jerry

He bought the dies and tooling to continue reproducing M/T Scavenger style collectors for those wanting a custom set of equal length headers. While most of the ones he's been doing have been for big blocks, he's now making a set for my mouse motor with 1-3/4" tubes and the custom made collectors to fit a F-Body SBC with power steering and a Muncie. They are built using an original front sub-frame and steering so that the headers are perfectly clearance'd to fit the car. Once completed they are sent off to Minnesota to be Ceramic coated (in orange of course). These are gonna sound cool behind the new Crossram motor with that ping pong ball sound inside the chambers.

Here's a sound clip link to Youtube.

Was thinking 396" small block but ended up going 3.750 stroke and 5.7" rods for a bulletproof 383. Motor will still be a few weeks and headers are off being ceramic coated right now. I have a couple other projects to work on in the interim but should be back on this soon.

Header Porn

Here are the finished headers from Nathan Schmitt at Sweet Ave. Fabrication. Killer design, made to fit the chassis and fit the way they should, and designed to have that sound that is second to none. M/T Style Scavengers for Big Block or Small Block builds and finished in Ceramic Coat colors.

I am very impressed!!!

Beautimus! Love his work. You’ll love the sound!!! What is your coating Graeme?

NorCam 03-27-2018 12:00 AM

Those were Ceramic Coated through Nate. He uses that header outfit in Minneapolis that specializes in Ceramics.
