Go down to lot 14 and see one of the 71 Judge Convertibles about to be auctioned off.

I would guess $150,000-$200,000.It would'nt surprise me if it went higher.

Did pontiac ever have a Judge for a pace car?

Steve_Hoog 12-04-2005 11:57 PM

Re: Judges

No that is not my auction, if it was I would mysteriously let the GTO dissappear into my garage.

csx289 12-05-2005 05:32 AM

Re: Judges

Amazingly enough, there was only one GTO pace car ever! The 65 Hurst Motor Trend Riverside 500 pace car.

It is posted on my website under "Private Collection" with the full story. www.colinsclassicauto.com

Re: Judges

You're right, I should have been more clear - only one factory (Pontiac-provided) pace car. I am sure many were used and provided by local dealerships, etc. Like the 69 Road America pace car Judge convert. One of these days I'll find somebody that has that vin!!! I have a weakness for that RA car, as it is my home track.

Colin

Are you the one that posted it over on PY? Too lazy to go checking ID's.

The one at Charlotte must be a black or dark blue Judge, now that would have a been a sweet color photo to see.

Re: Judges

PY site??I'm wondering if anybody knows were these two cars are located now. That would be quite a find.

Re: Judges

I'm going to guess that '71 Judge goes for $235K.
They pulled a full-page ad in this month's Hemming's Muscle Machines for this estate auction, so I'll bet all the latex glove boys will be there with their heavy checkbooks.

The car will never get driven because the guy's wife will hate the car because it "doesn't ride like our Mercedes."

I hope the bottom falls out of the hobby and these guys have to, "sell, sell, sell!!!"

Re: Judges

Much to my amazement, some one told me to look close at the color codes on that car. And I'll be if they didn't do color changes on the interior and top. As rare as these cars are, I would think that is odd on a high level restoration.

At any rate, I had to juggle my list a little bit.

I know two of the nice cars had offers of 200,000 turned down over a year ago. I'm still thinking it might go over 300,000. Will see in three days I suppose.

Re: Judges

From the auction today:

71 Judge Vert $195,000 +10% auction buyers fee.

1970 GTO Judge Convertible brought $130,000 plus buyers fee

1965 GTO Convertible brings $75,000 plus buyers fee.

csx289 12-11-2005 05:45 AM

Re: Judges

actually, it was 197,500 for the 1971 - I was there and I bid 195k. I don't think the other guy had any "quit" in him, so I walked away. It was a nice car, and I know how rare they are, but to me the sex appeal was low being green, automatic, and a trim tag change. I looked at the car all morning and couldn't get worked up over it. The result on the 65 and 70 are really over the moon, IMHO, for cars with as many stories as they had. The Superbirds were ridiculous, both had NO paperwork and NEW fender tags. One was a restamp.

I have decided I may fake my death at some point so I can get 1,000 people to fly into Milwaukee in a raging blizzard and pay huge money for all of my junk!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Do you know who bought the 71?

No, but it appeared that it was the same buyer for all three Pontiacs.

Colin,
I was told by a dealer down south that you like to buy Mopars with reproduction fender tags? Has something suddenly changed your opinion on the Mopar reproduction fender tag market? LOL LOL Sometimes I crack myself up!

Re: Judges

That was an inside JOKE for those of you who may think Colin actually buys reproduction fender tags on his cars.

$195,000 for a 71 Judge ragtop.I know thats alot of money but was'nt these cars going for alot more a year ago?

Re: Judges

71 Judge sales price with buyer's premium: $217,250.00

Only one other has been reported as selling, for 300k, and it was 300k in trade to my understanding. No track record of actual cash sales... so, how can a market really be established when there are (almost) no sales?? Yes, I was offered and have seen project cars in the past, but only one "done" car - the 3x White one, has changed garages. Disclaimer: To MY knowledge! LOL

PLUS, again, the car in NH was GREEN, AUTO, older resto...didn't "grab" you. When you start spending 200k+ on cars, most guys want a car that "jumps" out at you. Like a Rallye Green or Hugger Orange car.

When I was a young punk just starting in the car business, we learned about color fast! We referred to green and brown cars as "never gonna leave green" and "stick around brown".
Being here in Milwaukee, a good portion of them were AMC's or (worse yet) Renault Alliance/Encores (AKA "Appliances"). Not a good combo. LOL

Re: Judges

Colin is right, there is nothing to base a market on. With only 2 of the known 3 four speeds in existance not readily for sale, and then you get into the blane colored autos. Add those two things with a lack of sales and certainly not publicly disclosed, that is why this particular car was of interest. A public auction.

Six figures are thrown around for a couple of the nicer ones, and then you have a couple of rust buckets. There are still about 4 totally unaccounted for, another 2 or 3 not entirely in the know.

How much did Weiman pay for the white one? I thought it was around 150 or less?

Re: Judges

To be honest with you 442w30 I dont know who Wieman is so I could'nt answer that.

Re: Judges

That would be the 300k sale I mentioned.

Steve_Hoog 12-13-2005 11:01 PM

Re: Judges

There were 3 71 Judge Convertible 4 speeds made. Kevin Suydam has one, Gary Daniels has one, and one is lost indefinitely.

If some one were to make a $ 350,000.00 offer on the Quezal 4 speed, they will most likely drive it home. How about that? It is a very nice car.

Weiman has a bunch of incredible stuff. But the guy who has been the E-body rag grabber for years and with better entry
prices is Lembeck.
