tunes 04-26-2019 10:17 PM

You've come a long way with your Chevelle and I've loved looking at each picture and reading every post these past months. It sure looks great setting out in the sun and I look forward to seeing it up close at the Ohio Chevelle show in August. Ummm, I'll look forward to meeting you too, Rick.

ZLP955 04-26-2019 10:42 PM

Awesome, just stunning. Well done Rick, Annie and all who worked on the car.
Is the leaky fuel pump the rebuildable type Rick?

Woj 04-26-2019 11:54 PM

Rick, congrats to you and Annie on getting to the finish line with this beautiful car. I have personally learned a lot about restorations and enjoyed your posts detailing your work.
I’m looking forward to seeing the car this summer.

Phil

Did you finally find that window fuzzy that you were looking for?

SS427 04-27-2019 01:52 AM

Phil, Mike and Grady are just a few of the people that put a LOT of personal time in on this restoration helping me day or night (mostly nights) answering my many questions and supplying me with numerous photos and even parts from their personal collection. I cannot Express my appreciation to you guys as well as several others who helped when I called. It was rather strange being on the receiving end for a change and many of you made yourselves available whenever I requested help.

Yes and no. I never had one single NOS made available to me but oddly enough I was going thru some trim in my warehouse last week and came across a mint used one. Not the same as the assembly line piece but will do the trick. I have no idea where it came from and will not argue with how it got there.

Damien 04-27-2019 02:08 AM

Amazing Rick! Yourself and Annie have done a fantastic job.
I look forward to seeing it in the flesh some day.

SS427 04-27-2019 02:10 AM

Hope you can make it back over here again some day soon Damien.

Damien 04-27-2019 07:53 AM

You and me both bud!

Spectacular Rick, your work is second to none! I absolutely can't wait to see this one at MCACN....must admit I'm gonna miss this thread, it's been fun watching this beauty progress to completion. Now go start working on that 70 Z28 and maybe you can post some pics of that one along the way.

RPOLS3 04-27-2019 11:04 PM

Awesome

big gear head 04-28-2019 01:13 AM

Looks great Rick. Any chance we might see it at SCR22? I'm sure that there would be a spot for it inside the Corvette museum.

SS427 04-28-2019 05:17 AM

Not sure yet. I have it on the calendar.

SuperNovaSS 04-28-2019 04:05 PM

Rick,

Thanks to Phil Woj for going over all my photos in this thread and then inquiring about the clip that holds the wiper squirter hose onto the cowl. I know the 1970 Chevelles had them and was unsure about the 69's. Since there was not one on this car when we found it I just incorrectly assumed that the 69's did not come with them. Maybe the owner removed it when he took the hoses and hood off. At any rate and thanks to Phil it is now back in place. Yet another reason why constructive criticism is a good thing. Thanks Phil.

ScottG 06-05-2019 05:43 PM

Rick, do you have any new photos of the finished car?

Scott, thanks for asking. Our trim rings arrived this morning AND FIT PERFECTLY!!!! FINALLY!!! Because of that we took it outside today for some quicky photos though it was very bright and my camera was not set up right. It is now 99.9% done (battery has not yet arrived). Not the best shots but you get the idea.

Crush 06-05-2019 07:38 PM

Wow!!!!!

big gear head 06-05-2019 08:09 PM

It's amazing that you did such high quality work and got it done so quickly.

SS427 06-05-2019 08:12 PM

Not sure 19 months was quick but we will go with that. ;) Feels so good to get my life back! Back to working 5 days a week and coming in on weekends to putz around instead of putting 20-24 hours working on this car each weekend.

Curious, what will you do with it now?

67since67 06-05-2019 09:26 PM

I miss your daily posts during the build but glad you and Annie are getting a break!! Looking forward to seeing it in Ohio!

Charley Lillard 06-05-2019 09:59 PM

What solved the trim ring fitment issue ?

For the time being it is going to be a gigantic paperweight until later this summer/fall when we will be taking it to several shows. Two classic car museums have requested it for their displays so we are looking into that as well. I don't have room in the shop, at the house or in our warehouse so that has become an issue. Anyone want to keep it at their house? ;)

What solved the trim ring fitment issue ?
Finally locating a correct set of second design trim rings. Both sets of originals that we had located were reconditioned and because the steel bands were not crimped properly they twisted the bands not allowing all 4 of the clips to hold the outer lip of the wheel. Even the two that were clipped on would fall off just by blinking your eye so they would never have stayed on the wheels when in motion. The NOS 3rd design rings that were donated to us would not fit the wheels for some odd reason so they were returned. However, the center caps were retained and are on the car.

Worked in between a lot of severe storms last night trying to get the right lighting and shots using multiple locations as well as a couple of motion shots all in about 2 hours time. The background will not be seen in some of the shots but Steve needed a large parking lot to get the right shots. Thanks to Steve Temple of Muscle Car Review for working with us and Annie for helping with the lighting.

RPOLS3 06-06-2019 03:04 PM

Awesome - looking forward to seeing it at MCACN

Annie had one heck of a good dream last night. Fortunately it was only a dream...…… lol

big gear head 06-06-2019 07:54 PM

That dream could come true at the end of July in Bowling Green!
