Original RS Z. Owner left of stripes when he restored it in the late 80's was going to put them on but never did..back then the restoration police did not beat you down. |
Re: Is "stance" important?
I hate the restoration police. I still feel if a guy wants his car a certain way he should do it. Its his car ! People with cool cars afraid to put on a set of mags because they aren't "correct".

Re: Is "stance" important?
----Not every Z was delivered with stripes. You could have the stripes deleted at order time. That said, the resto po-pos would probably need the appropriate paperwork to accept it. I saw a 69 Z, pre-delivery in the clean-up bay at Porter Chevrolet in Newton Mass, that was ordered stripe delete. It was one of the coolest 69s I ever saw. Dusk blue, white houndstooth gut, white vinyl top, loaded with all the good options, including my all time fave, endura bumper. I never thought to look for 4-wheel disc or cross-ram. All that and no spoilers. Ive never forgotten it, and that's saying a lot at my age......Bill S

Bill, After attending <span style="font-weight: bold">Phil Borris' </span>Norwood Assembely Plant Reunion with my yellow bird and hearing the stories from the workers who built the cars, you wouldn't believe how some cars came off the line. There was one story where a worker had ordered a car and as it came out of the Fisher Body side. he rode the construction and his "buddies", with a hand signal, added or deleted his choice. So, watch out RESTORATION POLICE, Norwood was wild in the production years! |
Re: Is "stance" important?
My buddie Wayne's gorgeous 69 Chevelle SS 396. You should see the heads spin when we cruise together terrorizing the streets of Mount Laurel/Mount Holly/Hainesport NJ. Who says yellow and green clash?
Definitely has the "stance" http://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r...ps58ea8ded.jpg |

Shot this '67 at B-J back in 2007. Doesn't get better than that on a midyear.

Ryan </div></div> I've browsed this site for years but never joined, my car is a 138 Vin but not a COPO in any way, shape or form... I was google image searching my images and well, came across Missy with my 68 SS here, lol... I figured I'd finally stop in a join. If my mind serves me well it was only Motion and Dick Harrel who did anything with the 68 Chevelle and I have to admit I'd love to find the hood Dick Harrel used on the 68 Chevelle. |

Ryan Good stance? https://www.yenko.net/attachments/use...42163326_n.jpg </div></div> Love your '68, and I had a 138 code 4 spd years ago. I think, just FYI, that the SS front plate might be upside down? That 68 sits way too high in the back! Here's a shot I took without the blond distraction in front... Re: Is "stance" important?
Need some opinions:
Do you like the rake better on the orange car (L60 higher in back, F60 lower in front) Or the black car (Same setup but lower in back, higher in front). I really like the look of the convertible (it looks more day 2 ish, you would think twice if that car pulled up next to you, more so than the black car, the black car just looks almost too stock). Curious what others thought. http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...psvgjfxrrz.jpg http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...psmgvhsy16.jpg http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...psx8qepinm.jpg http://i358.photobucket.com/albums/o...pshz2yljtw.jpg |

Re: Is "stance" important?
Thought I would get some comments on the stance of the black ebody vs the convert. I chickened out, and I am ordering new stock strings (vs super stock) to match the look of the black hemi car, and will lower the front end (more than the black car) to achieve the right 'stance'.
|
Re: Is "stance" important?
Rake looks great (orange car) if you gots the meats to take advantage of the rake and fill the rear wheel wells. That rake is classic day-two. However, you won't hear me complain about the black 'cuda look though! But, the level stance looks better if your doin' this....

Re: Is "stance" important?
I am hoping my little 340 can spin those L60s (but never like a hemi would!)! Love those pictures, been a while since I saw them! Yes, the level stance looks great!!!!!!
|
Re: Is "stance" important?
My vote - Black Cuda Unless you are doing a Day2 theme.

Re: Is "stance" important?
When I bought the blue one... the front end was lowered. Some moron cut one spring and heated the other to match. The car scraped and rode like crap. I installed new springs a couple of years ago. Before installing them I clipped a coil off each one as I didn't want the front sitting too high.

Re: Is "stance" important?
I think the rear sits a little too high.. Would probably be ok if it had some 15x10 Cragers out back though...

Re: Is "stance" important?
Man, have I got memories of these two cars. I had neighbors who each had a Hemi and LS6. I was just 15 years old. We'd listen to them after midnight on the interstate wail the hell out of them then listen to the tales of winners or losers the next day.

This '65 Cutlass is riding on a new set of Hotchkis sport/lowering springs. I think its hunkered down just right on 235/60/15 TA's w/15x7 Cragars.
(Car is for currently for sale at Memory Lane Motors in Renton, WA, which is where I got the pic) |
