Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I like gaskets with no goop but if needed I will use the black RTV sealant.
The fill port is needed now, not removing the rear end to refill:-) Thanks Ryan Agree nice to fix now vs later:-) |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
What you like.....will not fix it.
The fill plug was designed for a reason.....use it, my friend Dan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I am picking up my Canadian made fuel tank after work:-)
I bought a Spectra W31 fuel system, tank, sending unit 3/8, with 1/4 return, and 3 line fuel pump, 3/8 inlet, 1/4 return, plus output line to carb. I even verified the pump output pressure as Eric on here warned of high pressure issues with some suppliers pumps. The great part is I bought these parts from a car guy (he is so excited about my build:-) at the local Ideal Supply/Napa so any issues are easy to deal with. I will have him set out some black RTV (I very much dislike using sealants where they should not be needed but I dislike leaks much more) I Appretiate the recommendation as always Dan, just something I challenge regularly at work. I have a trip planned soon to Wixom MI soon so I will switch out a few parts at InLine Tube otw. I accidentally bought a Chevelle pinion bumper instead of the rear end axle bumpers, and one outer tie rod is not correct, easy fixes and they are very accommodating with any requests. I am looking forward to visiting their facility. I wish I had time to visit a few MI guys but we are going to MI and back same day..... Next time. Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
I use Spectra Tanks in all my builds and I purchase them all through Napa. Here is another Tip,
Open and unwrap the gas tank when you are the Napa store - check the tank for any dents. I had two different occasions were two tanks had two very small dents, they obviously replaced the Tank. We have a Ryan Weaver - crossing the border Priceless! Dan |

Note to self: check for dents.
Nice tip, that will save time later especially as these parts are going to be stored till I am ready to use them. Ryan |
Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Even parts in storage somehow acquire dents

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe
Or better still, you score a part thinking "I really need this", go to put it away and discover you already have the part.
