Great pics Pete!!! You’re on a roll!!

Can anyone imagine if today we were using open trailers and trucks like Professional Racers were using back in the day? Oh my, the cars would be stripped clean or stollen in a heartbeat.

Same car and truck 1970 before extensive modification on the truck (side note I didn’t know the same truck had been used to build my tow vehicle til after I’d sold it).
Paint in the car was done by the same person who painted Paul Newman’s race cars BTW Truck was done by Gary’s of Bristol auto body in the 70s Paint in the car was done in 69 and 70 by “woody” Wayne wood who panted many famous race cars. Thought you guys would enjoy the paint part of the story. |

From Amarillo Dragway in the early 70s ... Chadwick had gotten to the track late and was pressed for time. We were parked next to his pit and when he started unloading the car, crap it the rotating oscillator. He had taken the chutes to the cleaners and when he started unpacked the chutes were in a balled mess. A friend of mine and I told him we could straighten them out and he said OK.

Great stuff.

The pictures that Pete, and others, manage to pull out of sources on the internet is astounding. I guess we need to thank the people who took those pics, saved them all these years, and posted them on a public forum.

You’re right Mitch, thanks to those who took and saved such great pics! Forgot to mention, note the ‘68 ‘Vert w/ Linda as last post is a GT0, not Cutlass. Here’s a few more, from the good old world most of us here were so lucky to have lived… :beers: ~ Pete . |
Love the one of the guy towing an early Corvette race car with a 57 Nomad.

Local buddy 'bout a dozen years ago was selling an enclosed ramp truck, nice (stained wood?) deck, winch, the deck was angled), GMC front. I had nowhere to keep it. I think was a a early mid 80s cab.
Here is a pic of my buddy hauling my street/strip car for an alingnment check, '96 model, BB and 4L80E. |
Awesome!! Combination.
