Bill Jacobs Chevy in Joliet. I should have posted that (Duh),it is just a couple of block from the shop. I also got this shifter from the same guy that had the MSD. It is a dual gate for 66-67 gto |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion

</div></div> I had an NOS 5 just like that one that I sold last summer. No dates, but the guy I got it from said it was early 70s. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Should one be concerned with buying these old MSD / Mallory electronics at swap meets? I'd like a full Day 2 setup for the Nova, but honestly don't know what I'm looking for - or what to look out for!
|
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
The cool thing with the MSD is you can send it to MSD and they will upgrade it to the modern internals. It is just a matter of finding a nice case.
|
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Nos Mallory coils are still available and work just fine, 2875s I think. The distributors are rebuildable and are very well made and durable.
|
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
more people in those days ran the Mallory stuff than the MSD box. remember Day-2 is "street" and not track only. MSD was the hot set up for the strip in those days. A worked single point stock Chevy distributor and the black Mallory coil had my nova running 11.50's at 118 mph pretty consistently.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
I like the Mallory stuff..... I have my eyes open for some vintage stuff!

Went over to a local friends garage today as he had decided to part with some items. Picked up a set of McCreary tires (free), Nova L88 hood........and check out the sun tach parts with original Sun batteries!

That's cool!

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Is the three gauge panel cast aluminum? L88 Nova hood is sweet. Nice score.
Thanks, Marty |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
I should have worded this better. I did not actually purchase these particular items only the tires but wanted to show some of the things he had. He did not want to sell any of the tach products but had a lot of other GM original and early Day II parts. I believe the housing was in fact cast aluminum. I will likely be going back and will check it out better. Cumby is claiming the hood so good score for him.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
The hood is definetly my favorite!

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
That's cool. Is it going on the Vega?

Marty </div></div> Maybe. It depends if it can be added without cluttering up the dash. I will have the control unit for the Jac Pac air shocks, the Mallory rev limiter and the GM low coolant sensor. The dash may end up being to busy with all the add ons. My son is telling me I have to use it. He said people will be blown away when they find out a headlight delay was available back in the old days..lol |

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Speaking of Cragar. Remember the deal back in the early 70s. If you purchased a set of four wheels you received a chrome Cragar belt buckle. I have one. It is cool.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
check out the cool day2 air shock system in the 70 cuda I just got. It has left and right adjustment. I am thinking of keeping this setup...just hope I can get new compatible shocks (assuming the ones on it are shot).
