The Floor Pan is just about done.....that Red Clay is a Pain to wire brush out of all the nooks and crannies....Scotch Brite tomorrow and give it a light coat of chassis black, when it gets back from the body shop I'll give it the final detailing........

Also .....Had a little set back today........I took the Grill Assy apart and was cleaning all of the Red Clay dust that had discolored the back side of the Grill over the years........the Grill was perfect......I used Royal Purple Degreaser and with a lot of scrubbing it cleaned up pretty good......after rinseing it off I turned it over and this is what was waiting for me

The cleaner must have a mild acid base to it and it seems to have attacked the anodizing.....time to strip and re-anodize.......So if you use this stuff around aluminum https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif.....be careful.........

Ken,

What brand of chassis black are you going to use?

Keep up the great work.

Dan.

Ken,

Don't forget to paint thinner all areas before spraying...
Good looking floors and thanks for the advice on the aluminum. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Ken,
If there was slight surface rust in the nook and crannies, like between spot welded floor supports, I'd suggest spraying a rust converter, like Permatex Extend in all those areas. It will convert the iron oxide into iron sulfate (black), which will never again allow moisture or oxygen to reach the hidden metal. You can paint right over top of it, no prep.

Verne......What looks like rust is actually the residual red dirt from the area that the car came from....there is some very light surface rust and I'll be wiping everything down with Metal Prep that I got from the Local "Strip Right" dealer just to be sure...... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Thanks
