The Jacuzzi family emigrated from Italy to California in the early 1900s. They worked in the agriculture sector, improving aviation devices and water pumps. They invented the submersible pump, which was the first of its kind in the world. When a family member developed arthritis, the brothers created a portable hydrotherapy pump, which was the first type of Jacuzzi.

Nachos are such a popular snack that the word is not even spelled with a capital N, even though it's the name, or rather the nickname rather, of a person. Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya served what was later called nachos for the very first time to American military wives at a restaurant in Mexico, close to Fort Duncan in 1943.

I think almost all of the boats docked there are rentals. The larger private boats are at a dock across Rt. 41 / Tamiami Trail as well as at the houses down the road in Port Royal.

I'd prefer to see the city allow citizens report people who are not handicapped who park in handicapped spots. That should include anyone who has a handicap permit who is not handicapped. Being lazy is not a handicap.

Indonesia’s famous Komodo island (home of the Komodo Dragon) will likely close to tourists after cops busted a ring of lizard smugglers last month.

The closure was announced after the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry revealed that it had busted a smuggling ring that was going to sell 41 Komodo Dragons. The lizards were selling for about $35,000 (500 million rupiah) each.

On the northern border of Tanzania and Kenya, the deep-red Lake Natron is one of the most inhospitable places on earth. It’s high in salt content, is about 120 degrees Fahrenheit, and is extremely alkaline, so much so that its pH is about that of ammonia. The only beings that live within the lake are the red algae that thrive in the harsh conditions.

One of the hottest places on earth thanks to volcanoes and geysers, Dallol, which sits on Ethiopia’s northern border with Eritrea, is best viewed from afar. The average annual temperature is 94 degrees Fahrenheit, and it routinely hits highs of 116 in the summer. The brilliant yellow, pictured here, is the result of sulphur and salt reacting.

My first Muscle Car!

A 1967 triple black SS 396/350hp Chevelle with 4 speed. Only difference with this one is mine had Pontiac Rally II wheels.

I bought it for $1700 in July of 1969. Took it to college with me in Sept. 1969.
