It was there to save lives. The USA was concerned that Germany would use Mustard Gas (as it did during WWI). That brown paint is a special formula that would turn RED in the event Mustard Gas (not really a gas - more like droplets) was present. |

Tire maker Pirelli released this week a special tri-color edition of its colored tires to celebrate Festa della Republica, the anniversary of the Italian vote to establish a republic government after World War II. Unfortunately, the tires will not be sold to consumers. A Pirelli spokeswoman said they were specifically made for dignitary use. |
