Thanks for letting me send parts your way, to ship to Canada is always more than the cost of the nickel and dime parts:-) (these were low cost pieces)

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Had a great car day today!!!

Dad, RamblerDealer/Terry, and Al Stager attended a Canadian Drag Race History car show. Many great cars, and lots of great memorabilia!!

I bought one picture of a 69 W31 race car, and got Olds magazines from FJ Smith (who is quoting my engine rebuild)

The visit before we left and on the drive too and from was even more fun than the show for me as I love learning about my cars history:-) A few stories:

Al said a Lead mechanic at County Garage had a 427 Vette and left a huge pair of black marks at the local drag race road, so he lit up the W31 and matched them all but three feet. He said a month later when he ran into the Vette owner he told Al the second set of marks had to be his as those two cars were the only local cars that could put that much power to the ground:-)

Al also said Lynn liked to drive the car as well and he challenged her to lay down black marks and start on a steep hill before she was "W31 ready".

Another gem was that the local street racers had a 1320 marked off with a tobacco farmers measuring tool as they had to accurately measure tobacco fields. He said there were lots of tears (not his) by the local guys:-)

I asked why he stopped driving the car and he said he had family and needed to be driving a station wagon and was establishing his career so the car had to sit, no specific issue that sidelined the car just "life".

Al said he has a picture at home of the mechanics from County Garage and "Shenk" ? Chrysler next door in Ayr the two groups had formed a team to race to assemble a Model A Ford:-) Sounds like fun.

We made plans to go for a drive as soon as the car is back on the road, and to take it back to Ayr and his old stomping grounds:-) (now time to get back to the restoration)

We had a few minutes with FJ Smith introductions and such but he didn't have time for a huge engine conversation, many people were excited to meet the Smiths:-) More confirmation that if we can agree on the details this will be a great place to drop my gold lump:-)

Terry brought a nice upgraded Hemi Cherokee so we were riding in style:-)

A great day was had by all:-)

A few pictures to go along with the car show.

This is an original owner Pontiac, so I took a picture of him and Al (on the right) together. I can't remember his name:-(

Yup, same guy:-)

Tony and Al had sleeper dark green 4 speed 350 small block GM cars in almost the same area at the same time but didn' run into or against each other on the street.

I really liked Tony's Richmond and race shifter:-)
