Yep, it's a rare one alright. It's a V8, model 1811 and only 6770 were built.
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gifVerne This one is kind of interesting. 1934 Terraplane complete chassis, as left outside a '30s repair shop in IL. It's now been preserved just like it is outside the restored shop. http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...erraplane1.jpg |

Tommy, The trunk emblem (if original) indicates a 283. The production numbers come from Chevrolet records.

we all have our own personal hearbreaks from that last set of pics but my B-body bones are aching pretty sore from seeing that poor GTX sitting like a rainbow on top of that other B-body plymouth.. if these cars are getting crushed it would be nice if someone pulled off the window moldings on some of those cars!

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
I might have been tempted to wave some $$$ at that loader for that Vette or that 68 flattop wagon. I did that at a local yard on a 67 loaded Tornado that was the next to bottom car in a stack of five just about ready to go into the crusher. Offered him $200 for the complete 425 if it will spin. It did, and I got it. As long as they get the hulk back, some of the smaller polaces listen to $$$.
I missed a 66 SS396 4 speed car that was in the stack already flattened down. Manual steering box was visible and still intact, so got that for $20. 5 minutes with the gas hatchet. Not my favorite Vette, but very surprising it was going into the crusher. Not that bad. |

I think the Vette shot was photoshoped. Every junk yard owner is crazy, but not dumb enough to crush that car.

JMO [/ QUOTE ] I also would like to think no one is dumb enough to crush a complete straight vette.( could have a twised frame up front?) Zooming in on that photo shows no evidence of photoshop except the reflection in the mud puddle dosen't look exactly correct? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif nice winter conspiracy story. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Chris, I just don't think that photo is real. I know the car is hurt, but the hood is up, it's got a good 8" rally wheel on it, it doesn't even appear to be resting on the forks of the loader and it just seems to be a different quality photo than the rest of the scene. It’s a fiberglass body.......how much is it worth in scrap metal?
Like I said, I know they're crazy, but that dumb????? OR there's another theory......... Guido and Frankie paid to have the car disappear in a hurry.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Vern, that pic is real. I blew it up to 200%, and what you see are the rocker panel trim pieces on the forks, giving the illusion of it resting higher than it should.
With the hood up and the windshield smashed, I'm guessing that the motor is gone, and that year of 'vette is not worth the price of restoration, or stripping out for parts. Sad sight to see, though. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif |

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
the picture is all real.i will try to find the other ones i have of it.last year sometime i posted in the other dealers section that if any body wanted the dale chevrolet emblem on from this car i have it(for free no intrest)i even said it was removed from a mid 70s corvette from the yard i work at.sadly enough not all yards or people are in to old cars.i have been there about 6 or so years and have seen alot of cars get crushed.its much easier to sell parts from a mid 90s caravan than a mid 70s corvette.the car was rough.interior was a rats nest, both bumpers junk, hood junk, windshield smashed and sitting in a dirt floor garage with a leaky roof for 10 or so years.lots of underside rust.here is the one when it first came in iam still looking for the others http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...kyardvet-2.jpg

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Why would any one run a Corvette though a crusher? After crushing with all of the fiberglass, there would not be that much left to salvage.
