Not sure I fully comprehended that? </div></div> The answer you got tells me that the guy who answered has a user interface that only let you enter a VIN and when you press the OK-button you get the record for that VIN. It present what it found in the database. When you setup a database you have tools that let you send queries to the database and you can set up a specific query that you will use in the user interface. So in your case you would have to use that database tool to ask the query that would present the data you want from the records, i.e. all the VIN's from dealer XX. There is no problem to get the data you want if you have that tool. So my conclusion is that the guy who gave you the answer only knows how to enter the VIN and press the OK-button or he knows how to ask the query with the tool but doesn't want to. Jan |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Aha.......that's what I meant when I said "I'd get incensed about the technology side." Having done a ton of IT consulting, I know full well it'd be simple to get that info, assuming you have direct access to the database. My "guess" is that the NCRS folks do NOT have direct access. I'd wager that they have been given an interface page allowing them to enter a VIN, and that's it. I can think of scores of valuable queries I could make into that database that would benefit the hobby immensely!
Oh well, baby steps I guess. |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
If the vin is hard to read on the microfilm, I wonder if it would then be found when typed into the computer?
|
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I'm not sure how this record is constructed but my impression from earlier posts on this registry is that they have read the microfilm and entered the data in the the computerized database. I really doubt they they go to the microfilm for each request.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
That would be a lot of data to enter!

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I got my shipping data report back in a little over 2 weeks.
Turns out my post car was built on 6-19-69 (same day a Kurt Burdick's post car). Original delivery dealer code was 342 in zone 3. Dealer is believed to be Harris Chevrolet - Olds, Inc. based in Hannibal, MO. Anyone have any information, dealer tag, memorabilia on this dealer? |

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I got the Dealer # and Zone info for my '69 Camaro ( Zone 19, dealer 361) but they couldn't tell me who that dealer is/was.
It is Oregon (Zone 19) and it is a dealer between C-O in the alphabet but that's all I can muster so far (thanks Peteleathersac). Who do I contact to get NCRS to do a re-check as I believe they may have made a typo. According to PeteL, Zone 19, dealer 362 was chuck olsen chev, just one number off. Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Todd - thanks - will do
|
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Either Oregon or Seattle WA Des also again the C-O names are just a start, not for sure. Tough to criticize the NCRS for the service especially considering changes they've been going through but I meant to note yesterday that Wheelhop above should confirm or maybe recheck his info too as even the NCRS site lists Zone #03 Dealer #342 as Hauck Chevy Waynesville MO? Also, lots of past Bill Heard threads here as the Columbus operation delivered an HO Deuce also other cool cars! Here's a link to one thread, note attachment by Marlin of the Bill heard emblem. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...;Number=189883 ~ Pete |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Got the paperwork on my Nova, built November 25,1968
Dealer was Arrow Chev Inc. Los Angeles, California. Does anybody have any information about this dealer? I believe they're out of business now. |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I recieved my order for a 1970 Nova and was so happy with the quick turnaround and verification keeping in mind that I ordered mine 1 or 2 days after the original guy left but I only waited about 3 weeks with the 2nd person who took over with the new signature. I called a friend in AZ. and he was so enthused that he ordered 3 and they were all shot back with no info. (2) 1968s and (1) 1972 Novas. Has there been a large void in getting the 1968 Nova info from other members? Thanks in advance.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Got my package today for our 70 TH400 L78 car...I thought this car would have a dealer near Buffalo, NY [that's where I found it}...turns out it was delivered to Krise Motor Co, Canton PA....dealer code #380....zone 12...1/21/70...date matches build sheet.
Anyone ever heard of this dealer?? they are west of Scranton 30 miles south of the NYS border...small town of 1800 according to the web. I have spoken to the local hometown newspaper and the owner is going to help me in my search. According to him the dealer has been gone for over 30 years, but there are still family members in town...the original dealership is now a parts store. The search begins...wilma |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I grew up 10 miles from there...very small town, excellent wrestling.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Do you remember that dealer???

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I'm jealous of you guys that got dealer names with your codes! I have 2 responses from NCRS with zone and dealer numbers, but no names - dissappointing.....

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Todd...I don't know the family name...thought it was "Krise"...
if you any contacts that help the search I would appreciate anything they can offer. tom |

Ok, My whole fam is still up there so I'll ask them to sniff around.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
49-497 and 61-657
I know that zone 49 is in the south central PA region, and zone 61 is in the northern IL region. I knew that already since Benjamin's Nova was titled in Harrisburg PA with a bank in '70, and Danny's Camaro has registration stickers on the windshield from Rockford, IL. Just wish I knew the dealer names.... |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Got mine the other day, My 69 L78 Nova built on July 30, 1969 delivered from Scherger Chevrolet, Huntington IN, dealer 328, zone 45.

Wolf Chevrolet was in Belvidere (closed when GM went bankrupt), next town east, and Bocker is in Freeport - next town to the west. I'm in Rockford so if you need any detective work done - I'm happy to help. Jake |

He has an ongoing spreadsheet with many 1969 trim tags. No one really knew what the five numbers meant after the month and week on the trim tags. His due diligence has paid off as it appears this system his pretty much spot on.....at least for 1969 cars. wheelhop (Jim Hanke's) trim tag is 06C 01353 (153rd car on a Wednesday) and mine is 06C 03733 (373rd car on a Wednesday). Both are documented as being delivered Thursday, June 19,1969, the exact same day. Which leads us to believe that they both were built on Wednesday the 18th then sent for delivery on the Thursday 19th. Below is a picture of mine Jim's trim tag. And again, thanks to NCRS for helping us document our cars. Kurt https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-100_0418.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...s_trim_tag.jpg |

My 18th birthday! I have not ordered a NCRS report for my car, but have this to offer in regards to this very interesting information. I have 2 Body Broadcast sheets for my car, which show the production date as 1/9/69.....that was a Thursday. My Trim Tag number right after the '01B' date is 03293. If your theory is correct, Kurt, that would indicate the 329th car built on Wednesday. Not sure if this throws a monkey wrench into things or not. Perhaps the body was built in the Fisher Body section of the plant on Wednesday, and it went down the final assembly line on Thursday? |

Very cool Bill.
Yes, that does mix the theory up a little but I would like to see what the NCRS report says. Kurt |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Well...here is a new twist to the NCRS program
Turns out the report I got for the 1970 Nova lists the correct dealer code and zone...but, the wrong dealer name I just learned about this with some help from a fellow SYC member. The original dealer was... <span style="font-family: 'Arial Black'">Zone Dealer Number Dealer Name Address City State Zipcode Source Year Active Notes Change Dealer Details 12 380 LAKS CHEVROLET CORP. Unknown BLASDELL New York 14219 1978 Unknown Info Provided by AAA Window Stickers- Bill Petriko </span> So, I looked them up online and Laks is still in business, but not with Chevy. I spoke to their Honda store and left a message for Mr. Laks. The receptionist I spoke with [20 years there] said they haven't had Chevy for at least that long...I also plan to send Mr. Laks a letter regarding this...we will see what happens. Now, who do I contact at NCRS to get the documents revised with the correct info?? and has anyone else has a similar experience?? Laks is in Buffalo, I bought he car from the Buffalo area..the trunk has stickers from a local speed shop in that area...this all adds up. wilma |

It stated the orig dealer Max Meyers Motors in IN, when it was McManus Chevrolet in Ill. At the time I contacted Roy and he corrected his records and sent me an updated shipping assembly records document. I emailed him a copy of a window sticker with the identical zone and dealer # in that time period with the dealer as McManus. Ironically, the original owner of my black 69 RS/Z lived at 4232 South Park in Blasdell, but purchased the car at Dave Hallman Chev, in Hamburg, NY. |

I sent NCRS an email explaining the problem...more to follow.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I'm currently waiting for a reply from NCRS about correcting a typo. Originally I emailed Roy and he confirmed it was a simple typo. My 1971 Camaro was listed with a 1970 production date. 10 days later I had to submit a ticket on their (chevymuscledocs) website. Someone promptly responded and confirmed it was a typo and that a corrected letter would be mailed out in a couple of weeks. It's been a month now and no letter. They have not responded to my follow up via the help desk. Mike |
