Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread

I came across a letter that was sent to a friend of mine from Motion/Joel Rosen in 1968. This is a copy....he kept the original.

very cool x 2!

I am sure his letter was in response to a letter written to him as I can't imagine anyone telling a prospective customer "You Lose."

Regardless, it was also nice of him to let him in on a tuning secret about the jet sizes and locations, timing, etc.

Seems like it may have been a friendly wager on what a customer though was a price for a 396 camaro or what the specs were etc... thus you lose the 396 is cheaper or less hp.

Been playing around with the 68 some. Added the Tow tabs and installed taller springs. Now the pan is safer.... When a deal pops up, the front wheels are gonna get skinnier.. When the car was down low these looked good, now they aren't as easy on the eyes.. I am thinking of blacking out the grill and headlight bezels too

I went on a ride through the smokies recently with some friends and one of them got this picture. If I had seen her taking it I would have banged a gear and left some rubber for the pic.....

Alana Garner took the pic, she has a smugmug webpage with a lot of good pictures. I think she does a great job.

Two great cars that need to be in MCACN display next year guys. IMO Mockingbird Sam's Deuce set the pace this year! Outstanding with all the vintage, original Day-2 parts restored. A long trip for those desert guys but well worth it. We all loved seeing those cars they brought.

I had my exhaust guy weld in some old exhaust cutouts about a foot behind the headers. Heres a short video of the car idling. You can really hear that solid 30-30 cam doin its thing. It's not as loud as open headers since some of the exhaust is still going through the system but it's a lot more fun riding around town with the caps off.

Could I dare say it sounds Day 2 ? ?

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread

I was excited to find these on ebay the other day. NOS extended spring shackle kit! It was even better after I found out I bought it form Dave Miller, aka whitetop as he is the Day 2 King in my book! I've always been treated very well by Dave and am very happy to share these pics.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...7/IMG_0739.jpg

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...7/IMG_0740.jpg

These shackles are very different form the ones available today from Mr Gasket. These are late 60's very early 70's spring shackles-the outside edge is rounded while todays are square. Also the bolts are black phosphated with gold cadmium nuts while the new ones are just zinc plated.

Here is a pic of the current offering by Mr. Gasket.

http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...wschackles.jpg

Minor discrepencies to some, but they are pretty predominant when lookin at the car from behind so know well all be looking for the good ones at the shows and such.

Just got an original set of Traction Action decals from Dave Miller for the Lakewood traction bars. Can't argue with quality! Dave has alot of real nice vintage stuff. Him and Don White seem to have that market covered. Great car rare4k!!
