Re: Roll Call of all the 1969 Chevelles attending NOCC
That was funny, Dan was introducing me like some kind of celebrity.
Ok by me. (My wife say I love attention) Ryan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...g_00000820.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...g_00000821.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...g_00000822.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...g_00000823.jpg |

Re: Roll Call of all the 1969 Chevelles attending NOCC
Hi Sam,
This is by memory of what he told me so "grain of salt" applies here. Some "well to do" Ohio Dad bought his one son a sister to my car, L35, Auto, Lemans blue, black gut, the kid hated it, too slow. (ouch feelings hurt) Dad gives the off cast to another son and tells the spoiled kid to go get what ever he wants at the Chevy dealer. (Eyes Roll, WTHeck) Spoiled kid picks out this bad ass 69, L78, L89, M22, 3:55 posi, manual steering (cool) rosewood, black, black bench interior, red stripe, rear antenna, bumperettes, WOW. Car shows up and salesman tells spoiled kid he got an extra special option for him, without telling spoiled kid about it, a black vinyl top, you see the B on the trim tag. Spoil kid hates the VT, has them remove it right away. I think Mark said he remembers the car at that time with no VT. Spoiled kid adds 427 badges, paints his name or something on the doors, bangs up the fender changing the motor, but not many miles put on her. Engines goes away, but Mark followed it and got it back. Car changed hands a few times a long time ago. Mark bought it in my price range......cheap. Had it painted by Micky Hale. I think he bought it with 8300 miles, and drove it 500 miles in the eighties. Later had Micky restore the car without repainting the car. Now it went out of my price range. Boo. Mark said it was at he normal ride height with I think red stripes and SS wheels, (in another building) but he likes the Cragars, and big tires look, so he raised it up. I remember the article in MCR from 19-ninety something, clear as day Cragars, 12.5 to 1 compression, big cam, full resto. He has the article on the wall. (I have been trying to find this car for a while, never seen an L89 in person till now LIKE) He has kept it looking great all this time. He said it looked like a barn find before NOCC, shines up nice. A real deal car, the Hassett's know the dealership it was bought at in their area. I think Chuck Morse mentioned seeing this 69 running around very occasionally back in the day, around Ashtabula. Ryan My wife gets upset when I forget to pick up milk on the way home, especially when I remember tiny car detail decades later..... |

Sam,
You need to stop in at Mark's place some day and hear that L89 run. |
Re: Roll Call of all the 1969 Chevelles attending NOCC
This should help in the mean time.
This car needs a good run, too many years of waiting to run at PSMCDR....... Ryan https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbztG...ature=youtu.be |
Re: Roll Call of all the 1969 Chevelles attending NOCC
Ryan, I know the first owner of Mark,s car pretty good, the blue went to his younger brother when John got the black car. It came from Evan,s chevy in Painesville Oh. the same dealership as Grady. Back 69 they drag raced at TDR in what called S/SE and dabbled in Pro. a little. Mark, saved this car for sure as it changed hands a few times,I would like to get few pictures of his cars and mine together as he only lives six miles from me.
