You won't know for certain until you have the block hot tanked and magnafluxed

Very good advice Dan. I would also add that it needs to be pressure tested. This way you KNOW there aren't any issues with the block.

Kurt

BTW........clean out your PM box Ryan.

I have never cleaned out my PM box, is it actually full? Do you guys delete old PM's?

What is a pressure test? I have seen this offered for cylinder block and for cylinder head......

Our machine shop bakes and blasts the block. They install the freeze plugs, I prefer brass over steel, then mount a steel plate to one side of the block, where the head mounts. They apply 50 pounds of air pressure and watch for any loss of pressure. After that, they do the same thing to the other side. Much more affective than magnaflux. Magnaflux is good for checking around the main saddles.....areas where there are no coolant passages.

Kurt

The cost is $150

I have seen this service on several engine build websites and on a few quotes. (makes sense)
