I haven't sent in the VIN yet for my Z so I'm sure my number will be pretty high. In perspective, what is really happening here? Is the service affected across the board completely or just a specific car or both just because Mr. Sinor was let go? I see the service is still available on site, but not sure what to expect if and when I apply. What really precipitated all this? Could it be possible that the $50.00 charge was too low and that had set things in motion? Just curious to know what happened, since nothing seems to be too concrete on what I have been reading on other forums, especially the long thread on the Corvette forum. I'm hoping I haven't missed the window for getting the document for my Z.

I've read the long thread at the Corvette site. I'm too old to put up with BS that comes with car club membership. When I got my Gen5 Camaro, I had a moment of weakness and joined a SJ Club. From the beginning, I sensed clics, favorites and more. The Camaro group was "invited" to a local Corvette Club Meeting at The former Classic Chevrolet In South Jersey. From the gitgo, I sensed huge egos, "my s**t don't stink" personalities and more. It was my last time attending any more meetings.......

Now I just do lonnng smokey burn outs to impress just one person. Me.

Wow Jeff! I've got similar car club stories too, but those are for another day. I've left all but one car club and feel very liberated.

Hope this conflict does not stop a great service.

As I noted in the CF thread, the service provided was to confirm that the car had indeed been judged at an NCRS meet on a given date and had earned an NCRS award; the car wasn't inspected - only its judging/award history (or lack thereof).

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

Doesn't seem to be anyone receiving any new ones without Roy's signature yet that I've heard about. A guy over on Team Chevelle did make contact with the new people in charge and this is the response he got.

"Ok, for anyone that is concerned. I just spoke with a couple people at NCRS about the shipping data report program. Without mentioning any names they said that they had some personnel changes and due to those changes the service had been suspended. However a couple of people had recently agreed to take over the service and things should be getting back under way at this moment. Also was told that someone had been processing the information during this suspension but not mailing anything out. So in other words they had a hiccup in the service and are back under way. Was told people should start to receive the information again shortly"

So I take it the only way they will query their information is with a VIN? Seems like if I had the dealer, and the VIN of another COPO car shipped with the one I'm looking for, I should be able to retrieve its VIN? Am I correct that they won't execute this way?

Since they have the records in a database on a computer they could for example query the database on cars with a manufacturing month sent to a specific dealer and get a list of VIN's.

But depending on how they have made the interface to the database it might be difficult to get the data. My guess is that the interface only have a field for a VIN with a search button.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

Got my shipping report and it says that my car sold dealer code 386 zone 13 then it goes on to say the dealer is Marcy chevrolet in geneva ohio. But I looked up dealer 386 zone 13 says it is rudy haupt in johnstown pa. Rudy haupt is about 30 miles from where I bought the car. Is possible that after rudy haupt closed that the dealer got its old dealer code and zone and they listed the wrong dealer. Or does the records specifically say that the car was shipped to marcy chevy? I am confused as to where the car was originally shipped? Car was produced sept 15 1969 a 1970 model. Any thoughts

----Pete would probably know, but I believe that a whole bunch (if not all) of the dealer codes got changed at one time quite a while back. That is probably why........Bill S

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

I have 13-386 as Rudy Haupt in 69. Marcy doesn't fit in at all alphabetically. Maybe they were looking at a zone list that wasn't from 69 or had incorrect information.
