I stand corrected It was Dennis not ZUL. Im thinking of another car here that was one of ZUL's.

The Ribbon car went Ribbon to Yellow and then to White (how it was shipped to Hawaii) before it was painted Blue and put on the street to match a twin to it. I have not seen any of the Red/White and Blue scheme for this car but have seen Bruce Larsons car painted that way.

Found this on another site.

<font color="red">
By 1970, Grumpy's very successful 1968 Camaro had seen over two years of heavy racing and was pretty much used up and no longer competitive. Chevrolet had just came out with the restyled Camaro for 1970, so 'Da Grump built one.

The big-block Camaro looked fantastic but was as inconsistent and troublesome as the Hemi Mopars were fierce. After two years, Jenkins retired the car to build his tube-framed small-block Vega. Eventually Jenkins leased the car to Bruce Larson while Bruce's Vega Pro Stocker was being build. After Larson was done with the car, Bill sold the '70 Camaro to New York racer Richie Zul.

In 2002 or 2003 the car was for sale on eBay of all places, ending the rumor that it had been stolen and dumped in the Hudson River back in the '70s. The last known incarnation of the car it had been painted all white and was used as a street racer. One thing is for sure, by now, it must be one beat up hulk of a car.

I Talked to the guy that owned the car for several years. I think his name Richard Green. About 10 years ago I was looking for a ZL-1 block had ads in ICC and other places. I got a phone call from this Green asking if I had found a block?? He was also looking for one. He tolded me he had Jenkins old 70 Pro Stock and was going to restore it. When it came for sale on E-Bay I called him it was the same guy. He told me the first time I talked to him he had paperwork from Jenkins. I tried to buy it asked him what his reserve was and it was out of my ball park.

Here's a vintage candid from PID, with yet another front end treatment. Talk about a car with cool history. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Let's also not forget this is a born racecar. It was likely modified every weekend of it's early years. It's not surprising the car campaigned in many different configurations, but most importantly it was and is Grumpy's Toy VIII. Here's to the Grump. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
