Garnet red / white stripes, doesn’t get better than that IMO. That thing is going to be to nice for you to drive Rick / Annie. :)

congratulations on the great Yenko Chevelle find

wondering if you found a SW tachometer with it?

and if it has the Yenko holes in the dash and firewall for the tach and sending unit?

Congrats on your find, and can't wait to see it finished.

That picture of the tach and steering column speaks volumes. For probably 99% of us here, it's sooooooo difficult to imagine what circumstances could cause us to allow a Yenko Chevelle that we would have bought new (!!), drove for less than 20,000 miles in a year or so, got into a minor wreck, and then just park the car in conditions that eventually end up with it as shown in many of the pictures here. By some incredible good fortune it is still structurally sound and will be a beautiful vehicle once Rick & Annie get it finished.

Very cool car. 19K miles in 1 year is a lot with a solid lifter big block. One does have to wonder why they didn't fix the car from the minor damage? There was also mention of their other car, a 70 Chevelle. Did they buy 2 new Chevelles in 2 years? Why was the disassembled 427 out of the 69? Not trying to pry with the questions but it's a very interesting story and history.

I have heard from one person who knew of the car and the owner and he believes the car was crashed in 1971 not 1970 so that would give more time for the mileage to add up. However, it was in a minor accident when a relative tried to jump a ditch with the car (I found both rockers to be slightly collapsed) so it was in at least 2 accidents. Remember, back in that era these cars were nothing more than modes of transportation and few people cared for them anything like what we do today.

If you knew the owner and his way of living you would understand the reasons for the disarray. In the garage were two disassembled cars, at least 8 disassembled engines, two completely disassembled and scattered motorcycles, etc. As can be seen by the photo in the trunk, that was just part of one complete motorcycle. No rhyme or reason, he just took everything apart and put nothing back together and scattered parts wherever they landed.

The 70 Chevelle was bought years later. He also had several other cars at his lake property. None of which were drivable.
