Re: 1969 Chevelle L78 Monaco Orange
Yesterday they had a guy come in and letter the passenger side to match the driver's side.

Re: 1969 Chevelle L78 Monaco Orange
Looks great. Are those Super Comp headers? New or vintage?
|
Re: 1969 Chevelle L78 Monaco Orange
They are the original ones that Jerry used back in the day.
Kurt EDIT: I guess I should say "I believe" they are originals. Jerry kept almost everything for that car. EDIT: Rip just told me that they are vintage headers. |
Re: 1969 Chevelle L78 Monaco Orange
Wow, the car is coming together nicely. Engine bay is looking real old school race-ready! What brand and size ar those rear slicks? Wheel offset? I noticed the oversized pulley for the alternator. Is that to reduce draw from the engine?

Here are some pictures of Jerry's car at a dragstrip. It's hooking......that's for sure.

Re: 1969 Chevelle L78 Monaco Orange
Sam, I'm not sure what size the tire/rims are. The bigger pulley on the alternator was to keep it from spinning too fast at high RPM's. They don't charge real good at idle from what I've been told though.

Dan, the paint used on Jerry's motor was Seymour Paint. Rip wasn't real happy with it but it's all he had at the time. He said he usually uses with Bill Hirsch paint. Kurt |
