Naw..................can't be true Jacquie. You yourself were barely 11 months old in 1970!

What a car and what a gearhead you must have been (and still are!)

1963 Rangoon Red/White Interior Ford Galaxie XL 500 R Code 427 Convertible.

My dad bought this car new for my mother in 1963. I "claimed" the car when I started driving in December 1974. I drove the car through high school and college.

I sold the car in 1981 after college graduation to a collector for $10K. I "though" I killed him!

Well I finally got around to working on the orange Z I purchased back in 2010. The engine and trans were last removed when I rebuilt them in 1978. I wish I had pictures of that but unfortunately do not. In 1980 I had Radar @ K&G Speed and Machine (Philly/Havertown,Pa) do my machine work. He was really on top of his game. Fast forward to Oct 2012 I removed the engine and trans for a refreshening. I dropped the engine off at a local engine builder and I told him make sure you don't deck the block. I said this to him a couple of times. The last time we spoke we discussed the cam selection and a couple of other things and I reminded him again not to deck the block and he started to chuckle; then he states you'll always know its yours because your name is stamped on the block under the timing cover. I guess Radar at K&G stamped it back in 80.

While waiting for the engine to be completed and dyno'ed, I've repainted the engine compartment, retaped the wiring harnesses, refinished any fasteners that had overspray/corrosion, replaced the carpet, repaired and installed the 8 track(I forgot the fidelity I was missing), installed all new rs actuator hoses and light switch, freshening up the trans with new bearings and syncro's and finished a hundred other things on the car that I've been meaning to fix. The aftermarket exhaust is on so when the engine is finished I should be up and running very quickly.

The most rewarding thing is the satisfaction of working on the same car as I had done 30+ years ago as a youngster.

1976 455 Trans Am purchased in 1988 - had a 350 L82 out of a Corvette in it. I later tracked down the numbers matching engine which got dropped in a Buick LeSabre. My family doctor ordered this car brand new in the fall of '75. Here I am at the same Army base runway dragstrip that Canuck referenced in his earlier post - Argentia, Newfoundland about '92.
