If you are wondering how much it costs to have one of these shipping container homes designed and built . . . Between $150K and $250K depending on how many containers you use (3 to 5). The insides are very impressive BTW.

In 1797, one of George Washington's estate managers suggested he open a whiskey distillery at Mount Vernon. Washington agreed, and by the time of his death in 1799, the distillery produced nearly 11,000 gallons of whiskey a year, making it the largest producer in America at the time. The distillery still churns out a limited number of bottles each year using its original recipe.

The Cherry Tree myth was invented by one of Washington’s first biographers, Mason Locke Weems, in The Life and Memorable Actions of Washington. The tall tale first appeared in the book’s fifth edition, published in 1806. Its purpose was to paint Washington as a role model for young Americans, proving that the man's public greatness was due to his private virtues (honesty, courage, etc.). In 1836, the story was recast as a children’s story.

"She's got a ticket to ride / But she don't care"

According to John Lennon, the title of this track from "Help!" harks back to the Beatles' early days in Hamburg, Germany, where prostitution was legal but streetwalkers were required to carry a document certifying a clean bill of health. John dubbed that certificate a "ticket to ride."

In the 1900s, Sears, Roebuck and Co. started the home-in-a-box trend with its catalog “kit homes.” Although Sears filed for bankruptcy in October 2018, its DIY houses will keep it’s legacy alive in neighborhoods across America.

Comprising more than 10,000 pieces and materials, the kits retailed for between $600 and $6,000 (equal to between $8,400 and $84,000 today) and were available in about 270 styles.

There’s no exact estimate of how many kit homes remain, but the company sold around 70,000 of them in the first half of the 20th century.

Coffee comes from a flowering bush-like plant that grows cherries. Once ripened, they’re picked, processed and dried. Each cherry contains two or three seeds, which the average person would recognize as coffee “beans.” The plant’s fruit isn’t very pulpy, but it is edible. Taste depends on the growing area, climate, and other factors, but the general consensus is that they’re sweet like honey.

By the late 15th century, coffee shops were everywhere in Constantinople (modern-day Istanbul). The drink had become such a huge part of the Turkish culture that, according to legend, a law was created that gave any woman the power to divorce her husband if he neglected to provide her with an adequate amount of coffee.

People ordering espresso might think they’re getting more bang in espresso because it’s a more concentrated form of coffee, but according to the USDA, there’s only 64 milligrams of caffeine in one serving (1 fluid ounce). Coffee has 95 milligrams of caffeine in one serving (8 fluid ounces).

As a general rule of thumb, the lighter the bean, the more caffeine it has. So, a light roast is most likely to wake you up in the a.m. — or carry you through a lull in the afternoon — followed by a medium roast, and lastly a dark roast. As far as the type of coffee, reach for cold brew over iced or drip coffee on particularly groggy mornings. It has the most caffeine.

The average American spends about $1,100 on coffee each year, according to a 2016 study by investment app Acorn. An estimated 34 percent spent more money on coffee than investments. (Wait, coffee isn’t an investment?) This year, The Daily Meal found that we spend $4.63 on coffee every weekday, which amounts to $1,208.43 per year if we don’t buy coffee on the weekend.

According to a 2018 study by Wallet Hub, New York City has the most coffee shops, coffee houses and cafés per capita. (Maybe it’s no coincidence that the Big Apple takes first for most doughnut shops per capita, too.) Runners up include San Francisco, California; Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; and Las Vegas, Nevada.

Most coffee comes from high-altitude soil in Latin America and Africa, but it’s harvested right here in America as well. The only two states able to grow coffee commercially are Hawaii and California. The crop also grows in Puerto Rico, a U.S. territory.

You may already know this, considering it’s held the title for more than 150 years now, but Brazil is the world’s largest coffee producer. Data shows that the country is responsible for a third of the globe’s coffee production. Vietnam is responsible for about half as much, followed by Columbia and Indonesia.

No more crying! Before you chop onions, place the whole onion in the microwave for 45 seconds. By heating the onion before cutting it, you help break down the chemicals that cause your tears

Peeling garlic doesn't have to be a daunting task. Pop a full bulb in the microwave for 20 seconds to soften it, making peeling effortless. The cloves will slide right out of their skins with no mess or sticky, smelly garlic juices.

There is a Sears Roebuck house on my block. I played in it a lot when I was a kid.

There are a few in the small town I live in and was just in one of them last week. Pretty good sized home. I believe Cumby lives in one as well. I know it was a catalog home just don't remember if it was Sears.

Along the same line as a Sears kit home,Lombard,Illinois has quite a few enamelized metal Lustron Brand houses still standing.
A good friend of mine was interviewed on local TV here back in 2004.
Here's a count in the USA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Lustron_houses

My BIL actually wrote a book on Thompsons(I wish I had a copy. The cheapest copy out there is $500). He had a business buying and selling them back in the 70's and 80's. Ran into a issue with the ATF and got jammed up.

I've always been fascinated by the Lustron homes, although no way I'd want to live in one. We have seven here in town and I always give them a look if I'm in the neighborhood.
