#146 This 69 Yenko Camaro is N615126 and was purchased new at Joseph Chevrolet in Cincinnati OH. It was restored by the Supercar Workshop in Day 2 trim with a ZL-1 and Real Rodder wheels. I believe this car was found as a RS Z/28 clone in '03 and purchased by Brian Potter. Charley had it at MCACN in the large Yenko display in '12. It was sold at Mecum in Indy for $213K in '17 which is where I took these pictures. It was purchased by Pete Offutt who had it at Mecum in Kissimmee in '19 where it was bid to $230K.

#148 This 69 Yenko Camaro is N663684 and was sold new at Bob Johnson Chevrolet in Wausau WI. It's my understanding that this car still has it's original drivetrain. The original owner was D. Everest. I first saw this car at the SCS in Indy in '99 when it was owned by M. Price. I also saw it at the Chevy Vette Fest in '03 in the large Yenko display when it was owned by J. Deppe. This car was sold at Mecum Indy in '17 for $330K.

Here are more pictures of the 68 Camaro RS/SS that was converted by Dana. This car was purchased new by Bob Tatilian at Cormier Chevrolet in Wilmington CA as an SS350 with an automatic and A/C. The 427 and 4 speed conversion was done at Dana in April of '69. This car was found in Hawaii with less than 2K miles on it and brought back to the mainland by Steve Sandlin. It was restored by the Supercar Workshop and appeared at the inaugural MCACN Show in 2009. It was featured in the October '10 issue of Muscle Car Review. Charlie brought it back to MCACN in '17 for the 50th Anniversary F-Body Display.

What brand of rims are those?
|
It's my understanding that they are Nickey/Bill Thomas Camaro Wheels manufactured by Rader Wheels. I believe they were an option on these '67 Camaros. Apparently there are only a couple of sets known to exist.

#152 This 68 Yenko Camaro is YS-8023 and was sold new a Branine Chevrolet in Mulvane KS. It is the only known Ermine White 68 Yenko Camaro and the only one with the Special Drag Car tag. This car still has it's original transplant block that is backed by a M-21 and a 4.10 rear. This car was originally restored in the early '90's and appeared in the October '92 issue of Chevy Action when it was owned by M. Price. K. Suydam has since purchased the car and had it restored by the Super Car Workshop. It made it's debut in the 50th Anniversary F-Body Display at MCACN in '17. It was also featured in the May '19 issue of Hemmings Muscle Machines and in their '19 Calendar.

I assume Yenko was required to maintain the smog equipment to be allowed to sell as new cars? If not required, I would have guessed they all got removed during the conversion.

The whole MASCAR guys are behind the white Yenko :cool2:

Here are some more pictures of this 69 Yenko Chevelle from the VIP Car Corral at MCACN in '17. This is B408293 and was sold new at Marv Minneman Chevrolet in Youngstown OH. George Lyons found this car near Pittsburg in '05. The guy he purchased it from had owned it since '79. This car has 26K miles and still has most of it's original paint and interior. The hood was repainted and the chassis and engine compartment were restored. This car is identical to Mark Hassett's. These are the only two Monaco Orange Yenko Chevelles that I know of.

I thought there were five identical to this one, his and hers shifter, automatic. Maybe my memory is off...... ? Mark H’s is over the top!!! Ryan W31 |
I believe there were 5 built, but as far as I know only 2 are known to still exist.

#156 This 68 Yenko Camaro is YS-8031 and is owned by Reggie Jackson. It was found in Chicago in the 80's and according to the auction description still has it's original transplant block from Yenko. There are a lot of incorrect details on this one. It was bid to $285K at Mecum Indy '18.

#157 This 69 COPO Camaro is N639526 and was sold new at Reedman Chevrolet in Langhorne PA. According to the auction writeup it was restored in '17, has a correct MN block and is Camaro Hi-Performance Certified. It talks about having date-code-correct components so I assume it doesn't have it's original drivetrain. This car was at Mecum Indy in 2018 where it was bid to $120K.

#158 This 69 COPO Camaro RS is N624797 and was sold new at Jackshaw Chevrolet in Euclid OH to Vera Naikeliene. It was ordered with the 9737 option, a TH400 with a console and no radio. The auction writeup says it has a numbers matching engine, but it also says it is a MN block which would be for a 4 speed car. The first time I saw this car was at the Fall Auburn auction in '03 where it sold for $102K. It was bid to $185K at Mecum Kissimmee '17 but didn't sell. It then showed up at Mecum Indy '18 with a fresh paint job and the removal of the spoilers and radio that had previously been added. It sold at Mecum Indy '18 for $180K.

I posted pictures of this 69 Camaro previously. It is N662520 and according to it's NCRS paperwork it was sold new at Larke Chevrolet in Hastings MI. This car was found in a barn in Wisconsin in I believe '04 with no engine or transmission and an incorrect rearend. It had no documentation, but had signs that it could have been an original big block car. It was restored by Custom Classics Auto Body and Restoration in Island Lake IL. It was restored with a correct COPO drivetrain and was certified by Camaro Hi-Performance. It won a Factory Stock Gold Concours award at MCACN in 2009. It sold at Mecum Indy in '18 for $130K and then again at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale in '19 for $137K.

From the very informed members here I learned that Friedley sold four Yenko Chevelles (three of which are alive today) and, I believe, seven Camaros. Sometime in the spring/summer of 1969 I happened to be across University Ave. from the dealership while a transport was unloading Yenko cars, and later seeing a row of them on the lot. In 1975 I passed on the chance to buy the Lemans Blue Friedley Chevelle for $2,500 asking. By then it was looking a bit tired. Thank you for this fine thread!! Bill W |
I knew Friedly was an Olds dealer. I guess I shouldn't have assumed they were a Chevrolet dealer as well. I know of 3 Chevelles and 4 Camaros from Friedly so I must have several associated with the wrong dealer. I saw the LB Friedly Chevelle B357938 several times at Super Chevy Shows when Tom Billigen owned it. It had been freshly restored at the time.
Which other known Yenko Chevelle from Friedly is still arround? I've also seen two of the Camaros. I saw the LB Friedly Camaro N614579 at the CVF in '03 when they had a large Yenko display. There was a FG Friedly Camaro in the same display that was owned by Carl Stuber at the time. That one was originally owned by Kenneth Arthur Walton and was either N614328 or N614732. Does anyone know for sure which one Carl Stuber had? |

This Yenko Deuce is W349459 and was sold new Dick Watson in Williamston MI. It was previously owned by Jeff Latondress and Bob Gagliano. I had posted some photos of it when it was at Mecum Indy in 2016. It was back at Mecum Indy in 2018 and sold for $80K.

Is it Friedly Olds GMC or Friedley Olds GMC? I've seen it spelled both ways?
