Looking good...anxious to see both cars at the SCR. Rumor is you guys have been doing a little "tuning" for the drag strip.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Great job on the hood Mike. The Camaro looks awesome!
|
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
The stripes on the hood are a little different than on a Vette.
We decided to keep them @ 1/8" and 1/8" to match the OE Bubble Bee stripe. The scope area is blacked out VS cut out. At one time we had talked about using the Vette chrome insert, but this looks way more bad ass. Tom, as far as tuning, all that involved was checking the total timing and the dwell. We did put new springs in Gradys this spring. Looking forward to some track time. |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Grady and Mike,
Very nice work. Looking forward to seeing the engine compartment. I'm sure it will be well tuned for the next drag strip event. Phil W. |
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
As promised, a few more shots of the Grady Camaro. We worked on the car now for well over a month. Pulled the eng and M22 for some major reseal and clean up. The motor bay had the typical bad rattle can black out all over the place. Grady spent allot of time and a few gallons of mineral and lacquer thinner cleaning off much of that black paint.
The upper cowl where the red meets the firewall blackout had also been touched up red along with the firewall black. I wet sanded above the seam sealer and re shot the red and black on the upper cowl with lacquer. Grady took some course compound to it and I must say it looks almost untouched and not over detailed. While wet sanding around the trim tag we found signs of the white paint where the TT hade been sprayed white. This was kind of a hit an miss deal on 67 Camaros ? The old school Hooker headers were re coated white, the hood hinges were striped of some old paint and underneath revealed almost perfect original dark phosphate plating. Enjoy, I sure did just being around this time capsule. This car is too cool especially like the NY dealer plate.
Time for a members rides feature, this Camaro needs it's own thread. |

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Thanks everyone for all the great comments.
I also need to thank Mike for all his help on this project. The hood needed a little work. It was a lot fun working on this car with him.It did not seem like it was over a month that it was at his shop. I guess time does fly when you are having fun. I brought it back to my place tonight. I still have a few things to finish. I will post more pictures after that. Also would like to thank Brian Henderson for coming up with the hood for this car. Thanks, Grady |

This is REALLY cool!
Care if I share my 1st car? By the way, the hood came off Shay Nichols ZL1 Pro Stocker. She lived a few blocks from me. http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h3...o/My-SS1-1.jpg |

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Anyone have a paint formula for the yellow that was on early lakewood traction bars? Thanks
|
Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
I found a real good rattle can color after searching for awhile. Paint is made by Sherwin-Williams and the brand is NOW and is sunshine yellow #21206. Many people have the original bars way to orangey IMO. This is as close as I can remember from my early days.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Sam, thanks for the help.

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
Absolutely I was Sam. Still am. Even more when my wife and I head to Bethel, NY to the Woodstock Museum in October! Taking Schonye with us. Its not just about the cars but its about the whole era and some of the best years of my life!

Re: Dedicated Day 2 Thread
grady and Mike - the first time i read the thread and the work on the hood was outstanding. Engine compartment looks great as well. What are you guys drinking or smoking in Ohio - send some of that back west!
Great job! |

The hood was a challange, glad I didn't keep track of of the time... ...actually it was suck up time so Grady feels obligated to let me have a few passes in it at the reunion.. |
