----Donnie,,,,This is such a minor thing that I hesitate to mention it,,,but, the window cranks should be some where between the 7and 8 position when the window is all the way up. Seems almost stupid to mention it, but it's true. You have a Chevelle I would love to own and I have been watching your progress since day 1. Absolutely top shelf job!!!!!........Bill S

Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Thanks for the info Bill.
I didnt know that, those handles are not cliped on. trying to find an NOS set at a reasonable price. when they get cliped I'll fix that. |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
what color are the clips that hold the weather strip to the bottom of the hood?
at some point as you can see they were painted black I think they should be some sort of green. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...6-dscf0340.jpg |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Olive GREEN

Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Dan, is it paint or a plating? if paint who has it?
|
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
I will send you a part number this week.....I blast and paint them.
Dan |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
I second the Olive green.
|
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Long Island Corvette Supply makes a pretty good talc paint for it...
|
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
well, I got out some paint stripper and this is how they turned out.
would you use as is or repaint? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...0-dscf1406.jpg |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Repaint. It is quick, simple and cheap. Buy one of the flat olive green camo paints found at most hardware stores. If you get the right one they are almost a dead ringer.
|
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Looks real close to that VHT olive zinc primer.

Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
rear panels took the whole afternoon. pain in the a$$ but their on now.
I put the armrest on so they couldnt move. I know they have to come off for the seat to go in. have to order seat covers tomorrow. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...2-dscf1413.jpg https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...3-dscf1414.jpg |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle

|
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Donnie,
YOU ONLY NEED TO PULL ONE OF THE ARMS RESTS......to get the seat in Dan |

Bill, do both sides get put at 7 to 8? or one side 7 to 8 and the other side 4 to 5? |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
----Donnie,,,Both should face forward and down. I should have made that clear. Sorry!
----Also sorry it took me so long to answer, but I just got back from a short trip.....Bill S |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
no problem Bill.
so 7 to 8 passenger side and 4 to 5 driver side. |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
I took the car for its first drive on the street yesterday. if you plan on driving your car DONT put repop belts on it only went 3 to 4 miles and tossed the fan belt and turned the power steering inside out.
got the front end aligned today now I have a couple bugs to work out. |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Whose aftermarket belts do you have on it? I have heard people complain about Quanta belts and I have been using them for over 10 years with no known issues.
|
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
Rick, they were Quanta. if the car never sees any rpm's there fine.
I ran it up testing things out and lost them. picked up a couple made in the USA napa belts today and no issues. |

Rick, Most of the cars that you and I restore - are mostly Trailer Queens....you won't find many weekend drag cars or PSMCDR guys using Quanta Belts. It's a great factory correct product....just not good for over 6000 rpm. Dan |
Re: Donnie`s new 1969 Dover White L78 Chevelle
I tried the Quanta belts on my Chevelle & Camaro and had the same twisting problem at high RPM. So worried it would damage the curved neck radiator I switched to Napa belts also.
