Re: Missing Muscle Cars
Back to post about the newly found Grumpy 68.. Im still not 100% sold its the same car..
Does anyone know for a fact who got the car after Heavy? And the year? |
Re: Missing Muscle Cars
100% ?
I feel the only way we will know is by VIN. ID. I live just outside of Pgh and am willing to look into this as deep as I can. To be continued. |
Re: Missing Muscle Cars
The problem is that Heavy had several Camaros and there are several stories surrounding each car. Did anyone talk to Heavy before he passed away?

Re: Missing Muscle Cars
Well, if it turns out to be the case that the car is indeed "Found" I'll have some updating to do in the book :-)

Re: Missing Muscle Cars
Reposting the pic Darrell had in his post. Definitely appears to be Butternut on the cowl of the suspected car.

I do believe Grumpy's '68 was an original SS 396 375 Horse L78......in White. Rumors had it as an L89 Aluminum Head car which I believe as false. Not all of his "Toys" Came from Chevy in White. I'm pretty sure this may have came from Am on R Smith as a purchased car via Chevrolet and not a "Loaner" car as previous cars were. He did race this car for years with Many different Engines in both Cast Iron, aluminum heads and Aluminum BB along with Small Blocks much later. It was a Class Car in at least 2 sanctioning bodies AND a Match Racer where you Run what you Bring. There are alot of guys on this site with Tons of Documents in pics, knowledge and hands on info if they are willing to chime in. Albeit, there are some "still looking for his cars" that will remain Mum on any and all Factual info they have. I'm just a hobbyist interested in the history and speculating this is real or not doesn't come into play unless I was lucky enough to say.... I have the Car ! </div></div> Vicki is saying that 777 on rear chevy logo and Gr by door handle.note the car started life as a 67 and converted to a 68 by gluing a side marker on Q panel. I have the proof right here. In that case it shall have 67 VIN http://i517.photobucket.com/albums/u...psincifhe5.jpg |
Re: Missing Muscle Cars
Jenkins' '67 Camaro still exists largely in original condition. I believe the family he sold it to still owns it. He made an appearance with it at a show a few years before he passed away.
It's still a '67. |
