They say everything’s bigger in Texas, and for one McDonald’s, that is decidedly true. Driving down Montfort Drive, you’ll see the world’s biggest Happy Meal. The inside of the restaurant features Austrian crystal chandeliers, Ralph Lauren wallpaper, granite floors, mahogany booths, and a playroom.

Dubbed “the world’s largest entertainment McDonald’s,” this 18,716-square-foot McDonald’s, constructed in Orlando a couple years ago near the site of the previous largest McDonald’s, is a sight to behold. It stands 48 feet tall; has a massive 22-foot-tall play structure, and a 2,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art arcade; a 30-foot-tall Ronald McDonald; a singing animatronic Mac Tonight; and a unique menu with offerings including omelets, waffles, wraps, pizzas, and pastas

This Greek Revival-style mansion from the 1850s is home to one of the fanciest McDonald’s restaurants ever. The space in a residential area was the former Gore House, owned by merchant William Gore, and it became the town’s (Freeport, Maine) only McDonald’s in 1984. The location also sells the McLobster, a lobster roll.

Being in a lot of meetings, I had set my pager to vibrate so that it would not disrupt the meeting by going off.

The only problem was that it felt to me like I was getting a little shock, so every time my pager went off I would go "Whoo!", even during the meeting.

Finally, after three or four times of this happening, the guys in the room were like "Seymore, we sure are glad you put your pager on vibrate so it would not be disruptive".

Back in the early 90's I was at my hunt camp and decided to go visit a guy I knew from the firehouse at his hunt camp a few miles away.

We were sitting in his camper at the table and I asked why he had a pager(it was sitting on the table). He said it was because his wife was pregnant and due any time.

We were drinking beer and talking about some close calls with rattle snakes a short time later when that pager started vibrating on the table. We both about jumped out of our skin.

Not sure, but I was told that there will be no manual transmission available. If it's true then that really sucks.

"The GT500 won’t be offered with a manual transmission. Instead, the GT500 will run a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission from Tremec."

Charley Lillard 01-15-2019 11:24 AM

Basically a manual trans that electrically shifts faster than you can.

big gear head 01-15-2019 11:43 AM

Still sucks. I like shifting myself. I guess it doesn't really matter. I'll never own one anyway.

A tanker hauling 40,000 pounds of liquid chocolate rolled over on the interstate near Flagstaff, Arizona, on Monday, leaving a river of the sweet liquid all over the road.

The single vehicle accident happened on Interstate 40, leaving some lanes blocked while crews attended to the chocolatey mess. No one was injured in the accident, but the clean-up did take about four hours.

Chain stores in New Jersey can only obtain two liquor licenses throughout the whole state, so even though beer and wine can be sold in grocery stores in New Jersey, it's not as common because of the license limit.

According to the North Carolina Alcoholic Beverage Control Retail Guide for Permittees, special promotions for free drinks including 'two for one,' 'buy one, get a second for a nickel,' 'buy a meal (or anything), get a free drink,' etc., are completely banned in the state.

On election days in Alaska, businesses that sell alcohol must stay closed until polls close. It is also illegal to be drunk on the premises of a bar or restaurant that sells alcohol, and bars can't sell alcohol at a discounted rate unless the discount is regularly given every day of the week.

Massachusetts has some of the most strict alcohol laws, including that bars don't have to accept out-of-state IDs as proof of age.

Happy hours, free drinks, and drinking games like beer pong, are also prohibited in the state. Grocery stores are also limited to only five liquor licenses per chain.

It has been 10 years since the "Miracle on the Hudson," when US Airways pilot Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger successfully landed his disabled plane on the Hudson River. All 155 on board the flight were rescued before the plane sank.

US Airways Flight 1549 was an Airbus A320 which, in the climb-out after takeoff from New York City's LaGuardia Airport on January 15, 2009, struck a flock of Canada geese just northeast of the George Washington Bridge and consequently lost all engine power. Unable to reach any airport, pilots Chesley Sullenberger and Jeffrey Skiles glided the plane to a ditching in the Hudson River off Midtown Manhattan.

Whirlpool's WLabs is launching a $799 oven this spring that can automatically detect and cook the food you place in it.

If you place salmon inside, for example, it sees that you're cooking fish and knows the right temperature and length to cook it.

The oven also works with an app that lets you look inside while it's cooking.

A couple of my NMCA racing buddies were on that flight.

They were shaken, but not stirred.

Born in upstate New York in 1839, Gilded Age tycoon John D. Rockefeller co-founded Standard Oil in 1870 and went on to control a staggering 90 percent of all oil refined in the United States, becoming the nation's very first billionaire. In the 1890s, the oil baron expanded into iron ore and natural gas, and had huge influence over the country's railroad industry.
