State-Shaped Skillets. What a great gift idea: a cast iron skillet shaped like your home state ($130)! These skillets are fun to serve dips and snacks, and they're safe for all cooktops if you want to make state-shaped pancakes. |

Horsetail Fall is a seasonal waterfall that flows down the east face of El Capitan (a vast rock formation in California’s Yosemite National Park) in winter and early spring. It's a sight to behold in and of itself, but during a 10-minute window over a few days in mid-to-late February it becomes even more special. The setting sun tilts at just the right angle and casts a glowing light that transforms the spectacle into a 'firefall', so named for its likeness to free-flowing lava. |

For just one night each year cereus, the collective name for a group of flower-producing cacti, open up to reveal their pretty white blossoms. Usually taking place in either May or June, this fleeting spectacle is best seen at Arizona’s botanical garden of Tohono Chul. Here more than 300 of these night-blooming plants are monitored around the clock in the hope that this phenomena is captured as it unfolds. |

Just 19 percent of 15- to 17-year-olds had jobs in 2018, compared with almost half in 1968, according to a Pew Research Center study published in November. It wasn’t much better for 18- to 21-year-olds: In 2018, 58 percent had been employed in the previous year, down from 80 percent in 1968, Pew says. |

It is mathematically possible to build an actual time machine - what's holding us back is finding materials that can physically bend the fabric of space-time. |

Every so often hooking up the 110V wiring I would get a little shock and, of course the natural response is to let out a little shout "Whoo!" Being in a lot of meetings, I had set my pager to vibrate so that it would not disrupt the meeting by going off. The only problem was that it felt to me like I was getting a little shock, so every time my pager went off I would go "Whoo!", even during the meeting. Finally, after three or four times of this happening, the guys in the room were like "Seymore, we sure are glad you put your pager on vibrate so it would not be disruptive". |

LG Rolls Out Roll Up TV
https://i.postimg.cc/W1j9K8Mj/1x-1.jpg LG Electronics literally rolled out what SVP of marketing David Vanderwaal called the “ultimate future TV”; it’s a TV that rolls out of the sound bar box below. To oohs and aahs from the crowd, the company unveiled its LG Signature OLED TV R, which “magically rolls up,” senior director of product marketing Tim Alessi added during a Jan. 7 press conference at the CES show in Las Vegas. The TV “brings freedom of design to a space,” Vanderwaal noted. The TV can roll up only partway in the box, which includes a Dolby Atmos soundbar, to become a control console to check the weather and perform other functions. In what is called the “zero view,” the TV is hidden completely and can be used to play music. https://i.postimg.cc/sXtmJ4Vk/lgr9rollable-2l.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/RhKRpJhN/lgr9rollable-3l.jpg |

George Washington Wasn’t the First President to Live In the White House. Nope, it wasn’t the first president of the United States who lived in the White House, but John Adams and his wife Abigail. While Washington did oversee the construction of the house, he never lived in it. It began being built in 1792 and wasn’t inhabited until 1800. |

There’s More than One Copy of the Original Declaration of Independence. After the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, the word obviously needed to be spread. The reproduction of this text was overseen by “the Committee of Five”: Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston. While hundreds of copies were made, only 26 survive today. Most can be found in museums and libraries. However, three are privately owned. |

Fifty-six men signed the Declaration of Independence from England, eight of whom were actually…British. Sure, the majority of the signers were native-born Americans, but eight heralded from across the Atlantic. Two were from England, one from Wales, two from Scotland, two from Ireland, and one from Northern Ireland. |

The Average American Throws Away 4.4 Pounds Of Trash Daily. It sounds crazy, but this is true, according to the Environmental Protection Agency’s latest 2012 figures. When you take into account America’s population, that means that around 1.4 billion pounds of trash gets thrown out in the United States every. Single. Day. |

In Some States, There Are More Cows Than People. Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, and Wyoming have less humans than they do cattle. In these states combined, there are 32,489,391 cows. That’s more than one-third of America’s total cow population. |
