Re: Old Street Scenes
The "Stick City" that I knew of was on Whittier Blvd...which was in Whittier. We used to cruise up Beach Blvd (Hwy 39)from Anaheim to go and check out what they had.
I don't know if they had a location in Glendale at some point? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif Found on the HAMB... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/a.../t-101275.html |
Re: Old Street Scenes
Also...Don Steves Chevrolet was real close to Stick City...if you went up Hwy 39 (Beach Blvd) and made a right onto Whittier Blvd...Don Steves was on the left.
If you made a left onto Whittier Blvd for Beach Blvd...Stick City was on the left. I believe that a "Select Vans" was also nearby? BTW, Don Steves is still in business...and one of the members here had a car from there? http://www.donsteveschev.com/ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Here are a few pics...taken from the HAMB site! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/laugh.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif Corvair sponsored by them.. http://i305.photobucket.com/albums/n...rIrwindale.jpg Scans of an article http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...n_lastscan.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...y/tn_scan2.jpg |

Saw the Beach Boys perform that song live here in Austin last week. They did all the great car songs.

Re: Old Street Scenes
I remember cruising down to Stick City and on the way home we'd stop by "Sticks Unlimited" on Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena. Anyone recall that one? There was a convertible Corvette funny cay body on the roof of the office and it said Gene Conway's Sticks unlimited! cool. Here's a link to Funny Cars from the past with the Sticks Unlimited Corvette among many famous race cars...

Re: Old Street Scenes
Don Steves name was on a few race cars in the old days if I remember correctly. Another HIPO dealer that doesn't get much recognition! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif

Re: Old Street Scenes
Don Steves Chevrolet sold TWO of the aluminum-front end '62 Impalas and at least one 1963 Z-11 Impala, which I believe was the Tom Sturm-driven car.
