We are not done with the firewall code examination...we will spend some more time on it prior to paint
That's fantastic getting to those firewall codes!! How did you get the firewall to the point where you could get that detail on all the grease pencil markings, without wiping them out??
To answer your question: VERY CAREFULLY. Haha. And they are there only once, so you got one shot at recovering them. Frank and I have developed several different methods of removing layers of paint, grease, dirt, etc. and different light sources to be able to identify the markings. So, a lot of it depends on the car and/or what the previous owners have done to the firewall making this possible. Doug’s Yenko had layers of paint added over top of a virgin firewall so we were able to recover a lot!
Frank and Matt did all of the work. Each car is different due to its owner/ restoration history. This firewall was 7,257 miles of virgin metal... there methods differ between cars using different solvents and sometimes possibly a hand blaster. The correct lighting is 100% key to seeing things.

Thanks guys! I know the firewalls in both my cars have been previously painted, but I don't know what was done before as any kind of prep (or not). When the time comes, I'll be asking for guidance.

Here is a sales document from an original owner that purchased his car new at Yenko Chevrolet... if you notice the name of the salesman is Patsy Russo he is also the owner of the Sunoco gas station that did work for Yenko Chevrolet. According to his son Rich they did Exhaust work, rear end swap’s, tires etc. for the 67 Yenko Camaro conversion cars

Guys....I have a request to ask ...we are trying to use every item on this original car. A mouse chewed 2 small holes (size of a quarter) in the headliner and we desperately want to reuse the original headliner instead of replacing it with a SMS headliner... so we are in search of a red perforated with ribs 67 Camaro deluxe headliner. Even if it’s a partial headliner that we can use only what we need. Any help or leads appreciated. Thanks Doug

John,
The 466 # was the original and later replaced to 3796050....same mount I have an NOS set that have the 466 like John indicated molded into them. The 67 /68 Z28 also used these mounts. There was a set on EBay: Item Number:223155956153 |
My originals are the #466
John ..you are right... as far as applications. Ryan when it comes to correctness they do not like how a factory recall is they want to see how it was when it left Norwood . You guys are great I like how we can all give opinions and come to conclusions thank you everyone I am still on the hunt I hope to find some .
Thank you Dave, John and Jeff . I knew you guys being the 67 68 gurus that I could find the correct application.
The eBay add ended in November I just checked it out . The search continues
Doug, I’ll find them somewhere among my thousands of no’s parts.
Thank you. Much appreciated. The knowledge and help with all you guys is the greatest.
Thank you for everyone that made it possible for me to get a pair of the #466 motor mounts... thank you Darrell Cook for helping me search and thank you Bentley for having them.
I have great news from Frank Arone...John Weaver ( Original Owner) and myself will travel to Arone Restorations later this week to both watch Frank paint the car. John said he has waited 50 years for this day to come and is very excited. It will be an honor to share this experience with John Weaver, Frank , Matt, Mark and the entire crew. I will post pictures for sure and video Johns experience.
