Re: Cars with Cragars
Thx...I wish the new ones were packaged similar. By the looks of the Jegs web page they are individually packaged and sold... WTF???

Re: Cars with Cragars
Unfortunately it looks that way. Shame they didn't repeat history on this one. Would have been cool.

The quickest I went on my unilugs was 12.65, but one time when I was mounting a new pair of rear tires, I found that one of the welds had a crack in it about 1/2" long. I had a friend weld it, and it hasn't re-cracked. It's not a bad idea to check the welds from time to time. |
Re: Cars with Cragars
I've been mid 11s dumping the clutch at 5500 in a 3600lb car without any problems. Spinning 7" slicks, but carrying the front wheels with 9". These are 1/2" studs.

Re: Cars with Cragars
After viewing this entire post it brought back memories, as I had Cragars on my 68 Chevelle, one of the best looking wheels IMHO. My question is what is the consensus on mounting white letters out vs blackwalls with these wheels.
|
Re: Cars with Cragars
I believe that showing vs not showing white letters really depends on the car and what era you're going for. Sometimes the white letters are just too much on a car that has a lot going on, but for some cars that don't have stripes or are more subdued looking the white letters look pretty good. They are starting to come back on some new Camaros.

I'm digging the square bars on that green Camaro. Is it me, or are the Cragars on that car the newer "flat" spokes? Man!, that car looks good!

While moving cars around after the rain two nights ago, I grabbed this shot of the Camaro.
These are Rockets and not Cragars, but still cool. Phil Woj. http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...psi4unmsdn.jpg |

Re: Cars with Cragars
Was a 307/glide. Now proper 69 350/300 M20 4.10 12 bolt. My grandfather bought the car new in 69. Have all the paperwork in the glove box still. I wanted a "day 2" 4 speed car so this one was the perfect choice with only 49xxx original miles. Painted once in 73. Original interior, bench, SW tach drive with corvette distribtor. Autometer guages with the green cover over the bulb matches perfect with the original Chevelle gauges. Still have the 307 but it wont be going back in ever. LOL Lakewood bell, centerforce clutch, hays billet wheel, strange axles and spool, loosened up front suspention with 90/10s. Its a riot to drive.

Re: Cars with Cragars
I love Cragar SS on the right car. In my view the Dana car looked much better with the Cragar GTs. I really don't like these modern flat SS.
But as we all know, it's up to the owner. A lot of people don't like the A&A Stiletto hood on my ZL-1. |
Re: Cars with Cragars
I've been looking for a set of 15x10's and 14x7's for my '68 Camaro, but it's a beotch finding a set for a reasonable price that aren't all rusted and knicked up, thusly, I'm probably going to have to go with new ones.

It may be terrible for handling, wheelhop, etc, but A-body cars look so good sitting tall with the right wheels and tires! |

Re: Cars with Cragars
How many of us remember some older and wiser person (auto shop teacher, etc.) telling us that those skinny front tires and that raised ride height would make the car handle poorly--and then we'd think that person was stupid and run skinnies and a jacked-up stance anyway because it looked so damn cool!
My auto shop teacher would yell at us and say, "It's not stock!" as we would commit various atrocities to our cars. He was a visionary. Now all the money wants cars that have never been modified or altered in any way. Oh well, it sure was fun. |
