Not sure how this new service is really going to change anything if it doesn't have build info , like a PHS report. </div></div> The document has a notory type stamp on a gold leaf type surface embodded on it. I would malso think that the NCRS will keep a record of the letters they sent out, since it would be fairly easy for them to do. |

I keep hearing this but do not see why. The way I read the press release the document will not contain build information, just shipping info, such as selling dealer. I doubt it will "expose" a hand full of cars, as except for the few so called "supercars dealers", why would anyone lie about the selling dealer? I do think it is a positive though, as many car enthusiasts are curious where their cars were sold new, and for the supercars, not all dealer records are available, which left the NICB as the only source for such information, which few folks can access. IMO, as this service moves forward, we will see the number of documented supercars increase. Then the only debate will be how was it equipped/modified. </div></div> In my case it has helped. I have a car that has been a race car all it's life. I traced it's ownership history back to 1976 when a guy when a guy from western Maryland supposedly picked up the car in Connecticut. The yellow paint on a New England 70 Camaro pro stocker had me thinking it was maybe the Peavy speed shop car, then another source said the guy picked up the car at SRD race cars in 76. As it turned out,my car was sold new at Hallowell Chevrolet in Easton Maryland which is near Delaware. Talk about something from left field. Now I can look for racers in that area, and it sure as heck is more consistent with the car being worked on at SRD back in 1976. I also have another supercar that I want to get the dealership info on before I pay out money to the supercar shop owner to document it. Unfortunatly the car is a 1973,which they don't have the records for. |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I received my NCRS reports today and am very pleased. I have two original numbers matching, documented cars, a 69 HO X77D80 Z/28 (Wilkins Chevrolet, Norfolk, Va. and a 66 SS396 California smog 4sp Chevelle, black with red bucket interior (Gustafson Chevrolet, Eureka Ca.) Everything matched perfectly with my original owner docs, POP, build dates etc. Thanks to Roy and the NCRS.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
alot of bogus protect- o plates and order forms were made up in the 90s-2000s, and alot of them didnt know the original dealers. Now with the ncrs shipper is will shine the light on those cars or send them scrambling for new fake documents.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I believe anytime there is a zero for dealer, that car went to a zone office. then later sold through a dealer.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
I was #676, just got mine in the mail today.
I always thought my car was from Grand Forks ND. But it was originally shipped to Hallman Chevrolet, Inc. in Reno, NV (Even though my NCRS letter says Reno, NE) Im sure its Reno Nevada not Nebraska LOS car 11A says its production date was 11/14/68. Anyone heard of this dealer or have anything on them? |

My 1969 SS350 Nova is a California original car as the prior owner claimed. The original delivery dealer code was 312 in zone 20. Mel Bunnell in Pomona California. Neat info and thank you NCRS. My build sheet is real hard to read so this is a big help.

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Thanks Dana,
I did find a post from another site from years ago that noted that he bought his 69 Z/28 new from Guardian. I tried to check out some old newspaper ads from that area and time period but ran out of steam last night. At least I know it's a Ca. car from Brea. That's a 100% more than I knew 2 days ago. Thanks again, Dave |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Thanks Steve. The NCRS website lists Sausman as 49 - 496. I always thought that this car was from Sunderland, which is what Sausman became in / around 1969. While the NCRS site does not have Sunderland, I know that in 1978 they were 49 - 580 (per a build sheet I found online last night for a '78 Anniv Vette).
So, now I don't know where the car was from, and what I thought was a Sunderland sold car - now appears not... Feel like I just took a big step backwards. I'm at an even bigger loss on the '67 Camaro.... |

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Pony Express finally arrived in Canada. Received my document for order #236. Mine is shown as Zone 8, dealer 199.
Receiving dealer was Dunlap Chevrolet of Macon, Georgia. This confirms what my research had obtained many years ago. Actual assembly date was March 14, 1969 (Friday) which coincides with my trim tag build date of 03B. Dunlap Chevrolet was taken over by Youmans Chevrolet in the early 1980’s. In 2005 I talked to one of the original Dunlap family members. He was very gracious in sending me some pictures, dealer stickers and an old license plate. Way back “in the day” they were actually an auto manufacturing company under the name of Dunlap-Huckabee. One of the pictures below is the assembly plant. This document is a nice piece to have. Thanks Roy. http://www.pbase.com/don_lightfoot/image/155737173.jpg http://www.pbase.com/don_lightfoot/image/155737174.jpg http://www.pbase.com/don_lightfoot/image/155737175.jpg http://www.pbase.com/don_lightfoot/image/155737176.jpg |

Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Got the info yesterday for the 1966 327 Chevy II below and the 1969 L-78 Nova we bought from Duceless. The Chevy II was ordered by Star Chevrolet Co Inc, East Orange, NJ. Dealer code 301 in zone 35. The Nova was ordered by Havre Motor Corp, Ravenna, OH. Dealer code 245 in zone 28. It was expected that the ordering dealers were from New Jersey and Ohio. |
Re: NCRS Historical Document Services
Website says 1965-1972 Nova, Chevelle and Camaro.

Give us a few weeks and retry your VIN, we are having those records researched again as we think we might have missed some of them in the first research. |
