Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Well, It seems that the lull in the action is coming to an end.......the car (Body and Doors) will be picked up tomorrow....also I picked up the rebuilt 12 bolt rear end today...and, I just about have the fuel tank/fuel pump assy finished.......I really liked the simplicity of the 2004-06 GTO fuel pump as it does not require a pressure controlled fuel return line to the tank......But as you can see the GTO pump is a little tall to fit into the 66 tank...
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04922.jpg So.....we need to make it fit.......I had a spare laying around that I cut up to play with.....I won't be using the stock GTO vent assy on the top of the unit......it will be capped off so I was able to cut out all the venting controls which took up a couple of inches....shortened the rods and springs and made it manageable......but I still had to put a lower sump in the tank as the stock tank is only 6 1/2" high..... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04927.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05496.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05497.jpg Thru wall fuel line adaptor yet to be welded in..... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05498.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05500.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05501.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05502.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05503.jpg I'm gonna have to install the tank about an inch below the trunk floor to clear the electrical plug assy, but....that's O.K. as there is a lot of room down there on my "Poifeckt" Survivor car.........LOL Also....the newly rebuilt 12 bolt that will be detailed and installed shortly.... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05504.jpg |

Homecoming........After a lot of replacing sheetmetal, grinding, sanding and rubbing.......the Perfect "Nu Yawk" survivor car Body is back at home.....we laughing that the guy I bought the car from probably wouldn't notice the difference (My Bad)......the rest of the parts will be picked up next week...but anyway...Wet sanded and Buffed..it's home.....Now the fun begins......

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05517.jpg I got the top up and cleaned it (decided to keep it after all).....after sitting in the down position for 4 months it has a lot of wrinkles to be worked out......But after cleaning it looks pretty good..... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05518.jpg Didn't get involved in any dirty stuff...Just dis-assembly.... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05519.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05520.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05521.jpg Front Coil Springs......Nu Yawk style....along with the exhaust system......LOL http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05528.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05529.jpg Stripped......... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05530.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05532.jpg Time for a nap!! |

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
----Ken,,,Are those rear calipers GM done over by CPP??? Do you happen to have a closer pic of them by chance?.......Bill S
|
Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Here you go Bill.........I think they are mid 80's Cadillac items ......With the built in E-Brake
Ken http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05535.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05536.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05537.jpg http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05538.jpg |
Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
----Thanks Ken,,,Yup, those are the same calipers that CPP sold me for a stalled 65 Chevelle wagon pro-touring style car that Im now trying to re-group on and finish. Bought the kit about 4 years ago. Had the car 80% done and had a shop fire that some of you may know about. Ruined the paint and every piece of chrome on the car. I was just cleaning them up and re-painting them yesterday. Thought they were the same ones......Bill S
----The mounting plates are nicer, though. You probably got the deluxe kit!!! |
Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
So.....I was going to take the day off and watch Football.......Then I remembered that I am a Chicago Bears fan.....so, I spent the day in the garage doing some more dis-assembly......

Got a lot of detailing to do underneath before I get to that point....Cleaned up and put away the tools and masked and sealed off the outside of the car today to protect Georges work from dust and overspray.... |
Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

The jacks are fine........When you are a one man band you need to be able to adjust the car up and down to get the rear ends in/out.........the jacks worked perfectly...... |
Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Whenever I go thru a car I send the stock radio out to be converted over to AM-FM/Sirius Satelite......Stock looking radio yet all the modern conviences......Pretty Cool!!
I was gonna do that with my "Mint" NU Yawk Original Paint Rust Free Survivor car........But it seems the owner forgot it when he shipped the car........Those crazy Nu Yawk guy's.....anything for a "Laugh".... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05818.jpg So....I bought one off eBay and sent it out for conversion...Got it back today.....I highly recommend these guy's for this type of conversion...... http://www.vintageautoradio.com/ http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05576.jpg All solid state with a built in pre Amp..... http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC05577.jpg |
Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
That is cool! Is it an AM only unit or AM/FM and does it matter? I need that in my Camaro!
|
Re: Next Years Power Tour Car
Bill....It doesn't matter..........The Gold Nova had a factory AM/FM that they converted.........
|

I agree...the radios are great! I had two converted, one in the '67 Nova and one in the old '66 Chevelle drop top. I move a portable XM receiver between both cars. Excellent radios!
