Al couldn't remember the guys name but gave me another name to a friend who was also in the club. His name is George Primm who also lives in Illinois. I contacted George through Facebook and he said the guys name is Gary Place. He was going to contact him and get me his number. So for now......I'll keep digging to see if this gets anywhere. Or maybe I'll get information on someone else's Lemans Post car....... Kurt |
George Primm was/is the president of NICC when I belonged to it in the 1980's/90s,and is still a constant regular at many area car shows here all summer long.I just saw him with his Monte Carlo @ Downers Grove Friday night.
Gary Place is also very well known. Let me know if I can be of any help. |

I will send you Gary's contact info.
He is a good friend, we chat about farming and muscle cars:-) Doesn't get any better than that!! He knows a lot of Chevelle guys, and I am confident you guys have met at NOCC:-) Ryan W. |

It`s the same car once at Volo and once at Legendary Motorcar, with Peter Klutt. Dan |
I'll take that bet it's a different guy he's referring to,as Ralph bought that car from Volo in the spring of 1998 and soon sold it afterwards.
I was there the day he bought it @ the Volo auction, and later when he sold it too. He did not own that car back in the 1970's,nor back in the day. |
I was in the NICC in the 80's and 90's. Don't remember seeing you Rick.
Can't say I ever heard talk of a blue 69 Post sedan SS back then. |

Ryan is correct, Gary and I have met before at the NOCC in 2013.......we were parked next to each other. I'm sure he would have recognized my car as his, if it were....although I don't recall him even saying that he owned a SS Post car but then again, I didn't remember him being parked next to me either. lol

9 years ago yesterday, Mike Ames, John Zigler and myself went to Dan Vasic's house to pick up the Chevelle.
It's been through a couple of changes since then. I've met a lot of good friends also, including Dan. I also got to meet up with Robert Chalupa, who purchased the car back in 1977....that's a day I'll always remember. A big shout out to my amazing wife who puts up with my me!!! Kurt |
Happy Anniversary on the car purchase. These dates stick pretty well.
Congrats. Phil |

After 9 years of abuse....my Hays Street/Strip clutch has had enough.
The bad news is, Hays doesn’t make that clutch kit anymore :bs: but I purchased a slightly used Hays pressure plate, the same as I had in the car and new Ram 310M organic disc. The disc took hours/days to decide what would work best for my application. I want a clutch that is streetable but will work at the track. I HATE clutch chatter. That was the main reason I stayed with an organic disc. Too may people get a dual friction disc and the first complaint is clutch chatter when in traffic, backing up or just trying to load up on a trailer. I took the flywheel in yesterday to get resurfaced. I should have it back Monday or Tuesday. No damage was done to the flywheel as I took everything apart before the disc was down to the rivets. Meanwhile, I'm cleaning parts and getting everything ready to reinstall.......and trying to sell parts to pay for everything!!! :hmmm: Kurt |
I've been running Hays myself and still have one NIB for another car. Also have a RAM and there's nothing wrong with those either. In fact, they're a great choice to replace the Hays.
|
Well...this hasn’t gone as planned, I installed the Hays pressure plate that I purchased off eBay and it was a dud.....hardly any foot pressure so it wouldn’t hold. I did get a full refund.
Then, after a lot of research, I ordered a McLeod diaphragm pressure plate. They claim it’s good for 450-500 horsepower.....it isn’t. Right away, I noticed the foot pressure is lighter than the original Hays I removed. I’ve driven it a couple times and it slips when shifting hard. It definitely does not have the clamping pressure that the Hays had. I’m going to go on a cruise tomorrow......and if I have issues, I’m contacting McLeod to see what the heck I’m going to do.....very frustrating as it’s a lot of work. Kurt |
Enjoy the Cruise Kurt.
Be safe :) Dan |
Just a thought, but did McLeod offer any tech advise? If you run an organic disc on both sides and it slips, and then you install a lighter pressure plate....well, that doesn't help. The lighter pressure plates are for a puk design, which would be the McLeod Super Street Pro disc. I'm really surprised this wasn't brought to your attention. The Centerforce DF is pretty much the same clutch set as the SSP.
|
This is the pressure plate I purchased.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/MCL-360801 It has a static pressure of 3200 pounds....the Hays had a 3000 pound.....it should hold. There shouldn’t be a problem at all. Like I said, if it doesn’t do what it should be doing on our ride tomorrow, I’ll be contacting McLeod. |
UPDATE: I contacted McLeod and they want me to send back the pressure plate to make sure I received the correct one as they have two.....one is a 2400 pound and the other is a 3200 pound.......which is what I ordered. The bad part is.....I have to go through all the work of removing it again (4th time) to send it back to California so they can test it! UGH

I love the look with the Cragars
|
5th time is the charm :)
Dan |
Kurt, sorry I didn't see this sooner.
I used Ram Powergrip HD in my old '61 Pontiac. Has a stroked 409 to 474 and made around 575Hp best we can calculate. NEVER missed a beat in 4 years on the street. BUT also never tried it with a slick. https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...illocation=int Or maybe look at just the Ram Powergrip..... |

I posted on Facebook Friday that I was looking for a set of period correct 15x8 Cragar S/S wheels with the round spokes.
In less than 12 hours, I had a guy contact me who turns out to be a friend of Dan Vasic. These are the very hard to find straight lug Cragars and they are from the early 70’s....they even have vintage Firestone slicks on them although I probably will have the M&H Racemaster slicks put on.....but I have to check out the Firestone tires first. These will be primarily used for car shows only. I’m super stoked. Kurt |
Things always work out for the Best :)
Soon, Road Trip :) Dan |
Way to go Kurt. Can't go wrong with either set of slicks.

69 Chevelle ss is my favorite year !
Love the post coupe and the color too! |

You're so correct, like the way you think :) Dan |

Love it too, especially the painted B-Pillar look w/o B90 chrome. M&H's are way cool but those Firestones look pretty awesome! :beers: ~ Pete . |
Pete - Gets It!
Be sure to tell that to Ryan :) Dan |
Kurt can I buy the Firestones?! Sean
|
Thanks for the compliments guys.
Sean, I need to make a trip to get the wheels/tires, then I’ll decide what I want to do with the tires. The current owner said they are like new and that I may want to use them as they look period correct too. Kurt Thanks, Kurt |

On a side note, I did get the pressure plate back from McLeod, installed it but only got to drive it around a country block because it started to run like crap. It took me two weeks of trial error to figure out that my CDI box took a sh*t and by that time, I had to put it away for winter.
The little I did drive it, I noticed that the foot pressure was heavier than the first time I installed it but not as heavy as the Hays. McLeod gave me a guarantee that it will work......I’m not so sure. I’ll give it a good test in the spring. So, if I’m not happy with it, I will either get something different from them with my refund or go a different route. I did keep my Hays PP in case I decide to have it rebuilt. I plan to contact them to see if it’s possible. Kurt |

Well, I picked up the wheels and tire......unfortunately they are 15x7 with 4.5” backspace not 15x8. They still work but sit IN a little too far. They actually hit my exhaust on the passenger side which isn’t a big deal as I’ll have my exhaust guy adjust it this spring.
But now I’m having a dilemma as I picked up a really nice set I’d 15x8 unilug wheels with 4.25 backspace......exactly the same as my daily driven wheels. I really like the straight lug wheels but the unilug fit better. The picture above is with my 15x8 wheels with the vintage M&H Racemaster slicks. These pictures are of the 15x7 wheels with the M&H Racemasters....the last picture is of the passenger side and how it hits the tailpipe....not a big deal ones I have it adjusted. Kurt |
What you need is RG Exhaust :)

These are the 15x8 wheels I just purchased......they are SUPER clean and would also look great with the vintage M&H slicks.....
The Hoosier tires are brand new but will be for sale as I don’t need them. Kurt |

I finally got around to getting the M&H Racemaster tires on the 15x8 Cragars.
They should look on the Chevelle for the NOCC show in Ohio and MCACN. Kurt |
They look Fantastic Kurt.
I look forward to driving my Former Chevelle again at our annual.....out for a cruise drive....in August at the NOCC.....I certainly hope we do not embarrass any other Chevelle's that may be driving next to us....Wink, Wink :) Dan |
