Re: EBAY Motion Nova?????

If a person took his car to motion as the original owner of my 68 396 375 hp factory ordered Camaro did, you would think that the modification would be to a 427 425 hp CE block. Why would a person bring his 396 375 hp factory ordered car to Motion and come out with the same 396 375 hp matching numbers original block.Would it not of been better
to install a 427 425 enjine???????

The 2" exhaust was common performance mod in those days. People weren't into the large pipes at all. The first performance exhaust put on ZL1 #1 for drag testing was 2" glasspack system with tailpipes and all.

P.J., Some people wanted to keep their factory warranties. Ask Joe Guerra (Joe G on this site). He ordered his 1969 Chevelle as a Phase III car with the factory original L78 396.

I bet the answer is probably lack of $'s. A super tune and a few speed parts added to the original engine was a whole lot cheaper than a full engine swap. It makes even more sense if the car was local to the area at the time of the mods.

P.J., My Dad raced (street and track) with the salesman and mechanics from the local Chevrolet Dealership (Community Chevrolet now Ross Downing Chevrolet) where he bought his 1968 SS 396 Chevelle L78, tripoli turquoise with black vinyl top at. My Dad raced this car and drove it every day. However, I know for a fact that GM reps do stop in at Ross Downing and record the vins of any Vettes that are in the service dept. with any warranty voiding modifications. I guess that the GM reps that liked cancelling warranties could not be every where all of the time. Also, it is my understanding that Baldwin Chevrolet honored the warranties on the Phase III L78 cars. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
