Re: 260...It's A Gas!
Hi Frank,
Out in the far west suburbs of Chicago where I lived, Sunoco stations were never plentiful, but there were a few around. My best guesstimate is that they were all gone out there by 1980 or so. |

Did Lenny W. restore your pump? Can you show me the "Sunoco Air" sign? You and I have nearly the same collection items. Kickass pic! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif [/ QUOTE ] Rick, sorry this took so long. I took the pics awhile ago and forgot. Enjoy John [image]http://media6.dropshots.com/photos/5...117/134553.jpg[/image] [image]http://media6.dropshots.com/photos/5...117/134733.jpg[/image] [image]http://media7.dropshots.com/photos/5...117/134755.jpg[/image] [image]http://media6.dropshots.com/photos/5...117/135045.jpg[/image] |

Re: 260...It's A Gas!
I'm not sure when Sunoco disappeared as a gas station around here, but the Meijer superstores (for those that aren't familiar, it's like a Super Wal-Mart) in the Chicago Western Suburbs had Sunoco 260 during the summer months a couple years ago. Cool seeing the logo again... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: 260...It's A Gas!
Got tired of having to wrestle this around when I wanted to work on it or just needed some elbow room w/the car,so I built a wooden pallet w/wheels that inserts up into the base.
My first design had thin plywood w/plastic wheels that all blew apart the minute I got them under the pump...oops! I realized since I put the guts in,it now weighs 100's of lbs. more then I figured,so I married two 1-1/2" planks & upgraded to 500 lb. steel wheels w/4"lag bolts and all is well. As nimble as a Zamboni.. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...wheels0002.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...wheels0003.jpg Sits 3" higher but as sturdy as ever. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...wheels0004.jpg http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...wheels0005.jpg |

A blendomatic sold at the Mecum auction for about 2300.00. Great deal for someone.
