Started working on getting the rood infrastructure ready for the headliner and the outside roof skin prepped for the vinyl roof to be installed .
Cleaned up the headliner bows and the outer headliner roof brackets and repainted them to mimic the factory steel look.
The roof pad and rear sail panel sound deadening is near perfect and was left alone. Can still see ink stamping in the padding .
The center roof bracing was in excellent shape. Once again starting with a clean California car was well worth it for sure .

Before having the headliner installed ,I needed to prep and paint the metal finish area behind the package tray and get it painted . Sanded, primed, sanded some more, and then finish spayed using SEM trim black .
Then I scuffed the roof with some 400 grit , in an effort help the top glue have some adhesion to the roof .

This day was an exciting one for me, as the vinyl top and headliner were finally ready to be installed . I was fortunate that the Father of one of my co-workers has done upholstery work for 30+ years. He was nice enough to come over to my home, and install the package tray, headliner ,and vinyl top for me . I was told by many i was crazy for installing a vinyl roof , but I think in the end it was the correct decision for me .

Thanks for the kind words!
I actually have set of headers, Moroso Chrome valve covers and air cleaner in the original 1982 boxes, a nice Accel Supercoil ,and some old school Lakewood traction action bars laying around, but I cant bring myself to install them .
Thought of building it to resemble something which would have looked similar to what drove around town in my High School days ,so I stashed some parts just in case .

Very nice work, could you post some pics of the thin rocker molding clips that goes above the wide ones at the bottom…
